The leaders of the United Kingdom and France signed a declaration of intent on Tuesday to deploy “coalition of the willing” troops to Ukraine in the event of a ceasefire, providing security guarantees for Kyiv.

Following a meeting in Paris of American envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, European leaders, and top Ukrainian officials, British Prime Minister Sir Kier Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a declaration of intent to deploy a multinational military force in Ukraine to enforce a potential ceasefire with Russia.

Sounds like "I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today" or Jerry Lundegaard telling his father in law in 'Fargo' "Yah, but... it's... I... just... I guarantee all your money back with interest when the deal starts paying. You have my word."

You can forget about any peace agreement then. Russia has stated more that once that no European troops in Ukraine would be acceptable to them.

This guarantees there will be no cease fire.

Maybe that was the intent

Putin has never indicated interest in a “ ceasefire” ( frozen conflict giving the europeans a chance to rebuild for another offensive )

Whats the advantage for the winning army to accept a ceasefire before his goals are completed. As in total occupation of Donetsk.

Are the euro “troops” going there to practice their “military” training...all the euro military does is put on ceremonial parades and so forth.

If they don’t follow-through on their “intent” will the Ukes fine them or what?

LOL!

This ensures the war to continue.
We should withdraw from NATO.
sell weapons to both sides.

That guarantees there won't be a ceasefire.

Ukraine will cease to exist before Russia allows NATO troops in what is left of it.

I don’t care much about the content.

I do care about the repetition. How many more times is the Coalition of the Willing going to generate this headline? It has to have been 30 times since Jan 2025.

The commit to troops on the ground after a ceasefire, as if that is some sort of reassurance to Ukraine. Why not commit to troops on the ground now? Right now. Send them now.

Answer: because they want to win the next election.

This declaration apparently includes the US air power “backstop” in Poland that Trump was promoting in the “28 point plan”.

Additionally, just how would the US be monitoring the ceasefire?

Given recent events, if I was Putin, I’d be a lot more worried about the US forces than 30k Euro troops in Ukraine. That applies especially post Trump.

Has an agreement been formally signed previously? Such a signing does matter somewhat, at least to most Western countries.

Partially agreed about the elections, but, also, “now” would insert those Euro gropos into an active combat situation. That would likely trigger a full mobilization by Pooty.

“Why not commit to troops on the ground now? “

Another answer. Because they’re never gonna do it. It’s just big talk and BS as they know Russia would never agree to it.
