Who really knows? My take was that he just got burned-out on “Washington” - how nothing ever changes, it takes forever to even start to see progress and then you’re blocked at every turn, people give lip service one minute and turn around and stab you in the back the next, etc.
That stuff is beyond frustrating for those of us who just read about it, and who are “normal people”. It had to be like 1000X worse if you’re Elon and are accustomed to having things under your control and results rather than resistance.
I can’t say I blame him - but DOGE still was a great success if for no other reason that breaking the left’s favorite toy - USAID - into a million pieces. Plus the DOGE mentality is now embedded in most of the departments - just look at what Linda McMahon, Lee Zeldin, RFKJ et al are doing.
It warms my heart to know that they’re not estranged or otherwise “uncoupled”.

It was good news to hear that Trump and Musk had dinner together at Maralago. I expect it would have been a lovely dinner.
Democrats will find fault over everything Trump does. Why criticize or make jokes about him here on this website?
Many years ago President Trump invited a radio person from Boston, Howie Carr, to accompany him on his airplane from New Hampshire back to DC. While being a guest on the plane Howie Carr saw Trump eating a cheeseburger and coke and wrote a negative column about it. That was the last time Howie Carr was on Trump’s plane.
