Mayor Zohran Mamdani opened his administration Thursday with an explicit pledge to govern the nation’s largest city as a democratic socialist, saying he would not soften his politics as he ushered in the “new era.”
“I was elected as a democratic socialist, and I will govern as a democratic socialist,” Mamdani said in his inaugural address on New Year’s Day before a crowd of thousands gathered at City Hall and at a block party down the Canyon of Heroes.
The declaration, made on the steps of City Hall, set the tone for a speech that framed his mayoralty as a test of whether a left-wing government can deliver for working people while confronting corporate power and economic inequality.
“No longer will City Hall hesitate to use its power to improve New Yorkers’ lives,” he said, arguing that decades of deference to the private sector had eroded trust in government.
He rejected advice to lower expectations at the outset of his term. “The only expectation I seek to reset is that of small expectations,” Mamdani said. “Beginning today, we will govern expansively and audaciously.”

I have no facts about Mamdani to go on and I personally never cheated in my happy marriage.
They say a cheating man chooses a mistress who is different than his wife, rather than a new try at the ideal he once had.
Supposedly, the mistress is a tall, figureless slender woman if the wife if shapely and so on or vice verse. Or he wants the fun loving, talkative type if his wife is serious and hard working.
Wonder if Mamdani will go for the blue eyed Baptist blonde woman type. We’ll soon see.

That’s a situation in other states too, I’m told. Illinois being one of them. A lot of Republicans there, but then there’s all those Democrats in Chicago & Springfield. Heard that many times. Big cities always seem to be the ruination of good things. That’s why we always need the Electoral College & Democrats always seem to be against that.

I hate to see the downfall of a city, but it is a necessary evil so voters in the rest of America will know what not to do in their own cities. The collapse of NYC will be a compelling illustration of the damage caused by socialism.

If Mamdani even has an idea about making life better it will fail because he is full of nonsense.
My guess is Mamdani will attack President Trump and hope the President will slap him down hard enough to create some sympathy. Mamdani will then attempt to play the victim card in hopes that blue-minded voters will rally around him and blame President Trump for NYC’s collapse.
Comrade Fidel Castro used that strategy and maintained power for decades as Cuba notched new lows.
NYC is going to be a cesspool for a long time.
I’m afraid it may be too late for Seattle. Remember, they elected a untested female Socialist to be their mayor. She’s already saying that grocery stores will not be allowed to close and leave the city, and they’ll be forced to remain open. I wonder how in the heck they plan to do that? Somehow, I don’t think the Seattle Police Department will be up for that kind of use.
