A "Reaction Video" from a "reaction" couple, which are great (Bikkuri personal opinion, and one of my favorite couples)...
They have been one of my favorites to watch.. a different generation, whom no one would expect to even listen to our generation, nor type of music..
(I avoid 'U-Tube' as much as possible, but some things can't be avoided.)
I do the same. Freebird is overplayed. But I love Gimme Back My Bullets, Double Trouble, Was I Right or Wrong, and much more.
Ever hear of Dred Zeppelin?
Reaction videos are fun to watch, almost addictive. I don’t like phony reactions, but this nice couple has always come across as real.
You mean beer.
I love how she said that she thought "I thought there was classical music, and then everything else" but went on to recognize the musicality of Free Bird, calling it "classic" -- which it has become.
Quality is a hard thing to describe. But she knew it when she heard it, labels aside.
That is unAmerican .
As ‘simple’ as she seems, she does have a good head on her shoulders ;^)
"Ever hear of Dred Zeppelin?"
I much preferred Hatchet to Skynyrd.
Dread... spelled it wrong. Quirky band that sings Zeppelin songs in a reggae style and sung like an Elvis impersonator.
Ha! Yeah, Michael Moore slob for shore, and world class poster boy of socialist hypocrites.
But the youtube evaluator of reaction video sites was interesting enough that maybe he found a niche.
His was one of the suggested videos below a reaction video I had watched. Maybe I’ll come across it again someday.
Forgot all about Molly Hatchet... I had their first album. Wish I still had my collection of albums.
Thanks for the comments.
And yes, I know….more people love these sings than me. Regardless…
The first half of Freebird…well..it’s ok. But it’s kinda sappy. The chorus is better than the verses. Yeah, Ronnie…I get it. I’d rather hear him sing T for Texas.
But…. Freebird’s outtro. A three-guitar attack, single-stroke roll on the snare TWICE…it’s kinda metal in a rock way And it’s part of America conquering the Brits AGAIN: https://americansongwriter.com/lynyrd-skynyrd-once-rebelled-against-the-rolling-stones-while-opening-for-them-in-1976/. Nonetheless, if I hear the first half, I change the channel. If I jump in at the outtro, I may hang around.
Now…Stairway. I know Zeppelin won the court case, but the opening was truly plagiarized from Randy California and Spirit. https://youtu.be/ye7hCIWwhGE. The first half of the song, like Freebird, zzzzzzzzzzz. The song really starts when Bonzo kicks in. The guitar solo? Well…it ain’t Freebird. Finally, the whole song is effectively banned at every music instrument store. Parenthetically, the best version is the Zappa cover, where the horn section plays the guitar solo.
And, of course….its been overplayed to death. It’s an immediate change the channel situation.
Gimme Achilles Last Stand every day of the week instead. Page called it his favourite Led Zeppelin song in several interviews, and considers its guitar solo on a par with his “Stairway to Heaven” solo (I think it’s way better).
Zeppelin did rip off some music. Still, they were a great band. My favorites include “Since I’ve Been Loving You,” “The Ocean,” “Out on the Tiles,” “Black Dog,” “No Quarter,” and pretty much every track on Physical Graffiti, plus much, much more.
But NOT Stairway to Heaven - lol. For their softer songs, I prefer “Thank You,” “The Rain Song,” and “Tangerine.”
Speaking of reaction videos, I recently came across these two young men who (IIRC) are rap producers, but they started reviewing older music. They were blown away by it, and I don’t think they were faking. They have some knowledge about recording music and they appreciate it. Here they are, reacting to Zeppelin’s “Since I’ve Been Loving You”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Brtff6VtE4c&list=PLKKgkaX8PjFYovRnJaP8YL7UHb_D1FRQe
They also reviewed entire Pink Floyd albums. Here they are reviewing Pink Floyd’s “Animals” Side 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SUwBFI88NJ0 Then, they review Side 2 in a second video.
Well, it’s nice to end the year on a non-political thread.
The whole point of the staid intro to free bird is to set up the shocking electrical storm outro. You missed the whole artistic point. Wow.
You hate the best rock song of all time.
