In a speech at the December 2025 Turning Point USA summit in Phoenix, Arizona, Vice President J.D. Vance declared, “In the United States, you don’t have to apologize for being white anymore.”
There was an overwhelming and immediate meltdown on the left, replete with the usual vile epithets and accusations of “white supremacy,” as headlines on the internet blared, “JD Vance Goes Full White Nationalist at TPUSA Event,” and NPR declared, “Vance Refuses to Set Red Line Over Bigotry at Turning Point USA’s Convention.”
Within this echo chamber, the accusations of blatant racism assumed avalanche proportions. New York Times columnist Jamelle Bouie proclaimed, “The Vice President is a Klansman.” Independent journalist Jennifer Schulze argued, “I don’t think the mainstream media can possibly report on just how vile and dangerous this JD Vance diatribe is. Some will gloss over the extremism; others will both sides it. So, people need to watch the actual video to see/hear for themselves the white nationalist venom spewing from this monster.” Typical of the hysterical reaction on the far-left social media site Bluesky is from the widely followed user PhillipUSA, who wrote, “JD Vance is a self-proclaimed [----]ing racist.”
On a more personal basis, I received an email from a former college professor regarding Vance’s speech and appearance at TPUSA. Her message was that unless I and others who support Trump denounce Vance, we are complicit in advocating white supremacy and further that the White race should apologize for centuries of racism and oppression. My reply is as follows:
I am a member of the Caucasian race and of European heritage, I am a naturalized citizen of the United States, and I am a Christian. I am extraordinarily proud of being all the above and revel in the overwhelming life-changing achievements of the United States.

The left and democRATs should apologize for the victims of communism. That would be more appropriate since they still believe in the same concepts.
Good discussion of this topic here:

Demonrats unapologetic for being demonic extremists and rat supremecists.
Start rubbing people’s noses in the fact that white people built the modern world. A little bit of quiet humble gratitude would be in order.
Are White Men Gods? (II): Getting the Facts Straight

Wow, the American Thinker finally figured out they need to improve their website layout. Much better now.
Excellent article, great post
It’s ok to be white.
The left and Democrats should stop their cultural appropriation of white artifacts like electricity, autos, planes—just for starters.
Enough is enough.
Lol.
P.S. I want to see some land acknowledgements to white explorers as well.
We must openly mock the left. Laugh out loud in their face when they call you a bigot or a racist. It just means you’re winning the argument. Guffaw at the claim of “white nationalist”. (How is that a bad thing?) Shame them for their position just like they try to shame us for ours. I am not ashamed of my race, my history, or my religion. I am equally unashamed of being leery of certain people.
I live at the edge of Appalachia. I know many families whose ancestors were white share croppers and coal miners. They lived in the same conditions as the slaves; often worse. Slaves were valuable and kept fed during drought, famine, epidemic, and conflict. Their “free” white counterparts starved to death in those times.
Slave descendants should thank their slave owners for maintaining the slaves through thick and thin and not killing the whole lot when the Civil War was lost.
Stop? I’d have to start first.
So not having to apologize for being white is now bigotry, racist, and white supremacy?
Imagine the fallout if someone suggested blacks apologize for being black.
That is not enough.
We need to replicate a “pro white” version of the Anti Defamation League, NAACP etc. to advocate for white people’s interests.
If you are not fighting you are not winning.
If you are not winning you are losing.
That is a big lesson of the last sixty years.

To those who object to “tribalism” or want to debate what “white” means see my tagline.
If you are getting stomped on because you are not a member of some tribe then you are probably a white guy.
New York Times pissed off because their race baiting card is void profit maker hit hardest.
For a long time I’ve believed there should be a strong coordinated effort to protest the corporations who use a disproportionate number of minorities in their advertising.
I have done a lot just myself, with phones calls, emails, and postcards, but one person means nothing to them.
I’ve gone so far as to say I want to see blue eyes.
But it has to be done on a grand scale to trigger changes.
A few weeks ago I had a long conversation with a rep at Huggies. I asked him if only black babies wear diapers. And then it went downhill, because he didn’t realize that I was being sarcastic. Of course, he was in India and clueless about American nuance.
I’ve never apologized for being white. I’ve never felt guilty for being white. And I’ve never been proud to be white. Being white isn’t an accomplishment so why be proud of something you didn’t achieve?
I am proud of my ancestors for their achievements though!
Whites fought savages here, fought the nation’s wars in foreign lands, and built the place from the ground up. Don’t see any reason to feel guilty.
Apologize for being white? Never have and never will.
