Trump Says Russia Wants Ukraine to Succeed

President Donald Trump on Sunday said Russia wants to see Ukraine succeed and suggested access to cheap energy could be part of a future settlement.

He made the remarks during a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, saying that his recent conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin left him believing Moscow is interested in a stable and prosperous Ukraine, even as Russia's war against the country continues.

"I believe Russia wants to see Ukraine succeed," Trump told reporters, adding that economic incentives — including access to low-cost energy — could help underpin a peace agreement.

Trump did not specify how such an arrangement would work but said energy could play a role in rebuilding Ukraine and stabilizing the region if hostilities end.

The comments came as Trump and Zelenskyy discussed diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the war, including the possibility of a ceasefire, security guarantees, and a long-term framework for peace.

Zelenskyy did not directly endorse Trump's assessment of Russia's intentions and instead stressed that Ukraine judges Moscow by its actions, not its statements.

"Words are not enough," Zelenskyy said, pointing to ongoing Russian missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian cities and infrastructure.

Zelenskyy reiterated that Ukraine remains open to diplomacy but warned that any agreement must include firm and enforceable guarantees to prevent renewed Russian aggression. He said Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity remain nonnegotiable.

Trump acknowledged Ukraine's skepticism but said sustained dialogue with Russia is necessary to test whether Moscow is prepared to move toward peace.

Trump's mention of cheap energy appeared to align with broader discussions about postwar reconstruction and economic stabilization...

The majority populations in Crimea and the East are never going to be easily molded and assimilated into the “ pure” Ukrainian ethnostate the Banderists and nazi-ultra national supremacists have been trying to create since the 1920-30’s and beyond.

Kiev regime officials have openly stated in public interviews that when they assume control, mass reeducation ( or worse) will be required to eliminate any public ties to Russian language, culture, religion, trade, history…

Of course Putin wants the Ukraine to succeed. That was the reason he went in in 2014. He wanted them back after the Ukraine told the failing Soviets they were bailing in 1991. Putin doesn’t want to destroy the possibility of wasting the resources. That’s why he’s there. And I’m not sure Putin is any worse than Zelenskyy. Flip a coin.

“Why you understand Ukraine so much better than the Zeepers?”

They want to destroy Russia, a fool’s errand. If Russia and the USA were allies, the Muslim menace and the Chinese menace would be screwed. I much prefer Putin to the Muslims and the Chinese.

I didn’t hate NATO when they were a defensive organization. They are not that anymore. They are aggressive and the US has been footing the bill.

We no longer need NATO. The Euros need to restore their countries and take care of their own security and defense.

Ukraine had not been defeated and will not cede territory Russia has not conquered.
Russia has not made any real progress in three years.

If Russia and the US were allies

Lol, just as silly as saying, if China and the US were allies. Russia and China are both dictatorships, and rivals of the US.

Alliances between former enemies have ended many wars. Russia has a lot of Christians. Name a better world power to ally with, I’m open to hearing who fits...

And allies have a funny way of becoming enemies after the war.

Japan was an ally during WWI, Russia and China were our allies during WWII.

Yeah, this comment ranks up there with the claim that we are going to build "20-25" battleships that will be "the largest in the history of the world."

Sales puffery is one thing, but statements that are so easily discernable as not based in reality are something else entirely.

And NATO has done nothing but use the USA, sitting around with militaries in name only while we do all the heavy lifting. If I were president, NATO would be the first casualty of my War on Insecurity.

And enemies become allies, as some of Hitler’s staff officers became top NATO officials…

NATO and Europe will be ruled by Muslims, the only question is how fast it will happen.

I think Trump is trying to get the war settled then we'll eventually leave NATO.

Japan was an ally during WWI, Russia and China were our allies during WWII.

Japan is now a democracy. Russia was first an ally of Germany in WW2. Together, they invaded and partitioned Poland.

Still waiting to hear who would be a better and stronger ally for the USA than Russia. Surely you can name 3 or 4 given that Russia is so horrible.

I’ve been invited down to a construction area to help identify antique bottles being dug up down at the river at a 100 year-old boat launch and dump site. You guys will have to figure out how Ukraine marches to victory on your own for a while. I’ll catch up later...

Russia was first a would-be ally of Western Europe until it was excluded from the Munich agreement…in which France UK and Italy worked out the division of Czechoslovakia with Hitler…. after being excluded from this process,Russia ( which had offered to assist Czechs against Hitler territory demands and been declined) …..excluded from Western bartering with Hitler now known as the Munich Betrayal…worked out its own European interest sphere and Polish territory division agreement with Hitler ….a strategic defense and self-interest arrangement…but an agreement Hitler ultimately betrayed

Its never as simple as Russophobes try to make it seem

I voted for Trump three times but this is the most absurd statement he has made in office.

Cold war with USSR is long over. Russia is a good counterbalance to world’s largest economy based on PPI, and treacherous China flooding US with spies. Idiot Biden even let a huge Chinese spy balloon fly over from coast to coast.
