An Oklahoma man who was doing target practice with a recently purchased handgun in his backyard on Christmas Day is accused of shooting and killing a woman seated on a front porch blocks away as she held a child in her arms, authorities said.
The woman, identified as Sandra Phelps, was sitting with family members under a covered front porch at a home in Comanche, about 90 miles southwest of Oklahoma City, on Thursday afternoon when she was struck in her right arm by what appeared to be a single bullet, an affidavit said. Phelps was holding a child in her left arm while seated on a love seat.
The family members told investigators they heard five to seven shots "over several minutes" coming from somewhere north of the home, the affidavit said. Phelps remarked that someone nearby must have gotten "a new gun for Christmas," according to the filing. Shortly after, she said "'ouch' and collapsed." No additional gunshots were heard.

I am confused. She was shot in the arm from how far away? Did the round decapitate her arm so she just bled out? I am sorry that this woman died especially after Christmas
It’s because of stupid and irresponsible people like this that allows them to sneak in more gun laws.
A few years back, we suddenly had water stains in the middle of the ceiling in an upstairs bedroom. 1917 federal style rowhouse with a “flat,” i.e. slightly sloping, roof. We found a bullet lodged in the metal roof. It had penetrated but got stuck before dropping through into the attic crawlspace, so a spent round from someone shooting his gun in the air. Could’ve come a considerable distance and probably did because the immediate area is well gentrified. Six or eight blocks north is still a bit chippy.
A hit on the artery in the arm can cause rapid bleed out and death. It might not even look like a visible wound at first.
Only a tourniquet, applied immediately by someone who knows how to do that can save such a patient.

I know a lot of apartments have shots go through the walls and into the adjoining apartments. Plaster board walls don’t slow down rounds very much.

Rowhouse neighborhood with no taller builings or elevations from which someone could have fired down. Had to have been a random round fired into the air which had to come down somewhere.
Sadly it happens when you just shoot off without a back stop. We had a man hit with a .22 in the wrist while in the middle of a large lake fishing.
My wife’s niece had two large caliber bullets go through her double pane window not long ago. Fired from so far away they did not have the energy to punch through the second side of the window.

Once a member of Bob Dylan’s regular concert tour band got a delivery of a gift box.

Worst case was a deranged woman who insisted she was his wife and wrote checks as Mrs. Dylan. Finally after stalking him for weeks, the group was working on an album in the Rundown Studio. There was a sound of a machine which turned out to be the freight elevator in back. The door opened and it was the deranged “Mrs.Dylan” woman with a revolver in her hand.
A security guy rushed her and got the gun away.
She was hit in her left arm. How did that kill her? She bled out?
