Can we sign up for the revolution here?
American Thinker ^ | 25 Dec, 2025 | John Woods

I have not had much time to write for American Thinker lately because we had to put a governor back in her box after her special session shenanigans. When the regular Oregon legislature session rejected the most significant tax increase in Oregon’s history, the Oregon governor, Tina Kotek, took it upon herself to call for a special session to pass the Transportation Tax package, a $4.3 billion naked wealth grab from the taxpayers of Oregon. Kotek dragged in a cancer patient in a wheelchair and an extremely ill legislator who had not gone to the capitol for months to secure the passage of this blatant theft of Oregonians’ money.

But a funny thing happened on the way to making HB3991 and HB3992 law. A referendum was proposed and submitted that, after the governor signed the bill for the cash, if enough petition signatures were collected, the bill would have to be stopped and put on the ballot so Oregonians could vote on the tax. Knowing this, Kotek delayed signing the bill until the very last days, robbing the petitioners of valuable time to gather the 78,000 signatures needed to force the tax onto the November ballot.

A Herculean effort went on throughout the state of Oregon. Petition sheets were printed, distributed, and places to sign were highlighted on social media. Once the petition sheets were in-hand, the process began in earnest. Local signing events were mobbed, with people sometimes standing ten-deep to sign the petition against the transportation tax. People worked tirelessly, and in three weeks, 193,000 signatures were gathered and submitted to the Oregon Secretary of State in the first drop of the petition process—and the next batch of petitions is being counted and made ready for another drop.

“Local signing events were mobbed, with people sometimes standing ten-deep to sign the petition against the transportation tax“

Democrats do these things, they even promise to do these things, and they get voted in every time. TEN DEEP! Something doesn’t figure here…

The governments which have been “elected by The People” are working against The People 24/7. Governments are just screwing people and don’t care what the people think. And the people largely live in fear of the government they “elected”. This is happening all over the world. Weird.

I like Oregon. It is a natural beauty State being ruined by urban hellholes. Take a look at the red/blue county map from 2024. Portland and Eugene are the culprits. If it sparked off there I would strongly consider “visiting” and spending my last days there to help.

"But, these folks elected her in the first place."

Stupidly, like most that generalize the population of oregon,
you wrongly assume all oregon voters are lunatic liberals.

With the scope of the fraud remaining in place, it really isn't possible to say that with any certainty.

That's the case with pretty much every western state.

What finally got Oregonians fired up? Was it just the special session trickery? The big tax increases? The special electric vehicle taxes the hit leftist smugness hard?
