The animated film DAVID , produced by Angel Studios, has become the number one box office hit after an opening weekend that reached $22 million .
This is not an anecdotal figure or a fluke success. It outperformed productions backed by major studios, established franchises, and titles driven by multimillion-dollar advertising campaigns.
What happened raises uncomfortable questions for an industry that has spent years insisting that audiences have changed their values and that traditional stories no longer resonate.
DAVID is a biblically inspired film , designed for family audiences, built on a clear narrative of responsibility, sacrifice, faith, and a sense of duty.
It does not seek to provoke. It does not indoctrinate. It does not mock figures of authority or try to confuse younger viewers. It tells a recognizable story with deep roots—and it does so with respect.
Angel Studios is not new to this path. In 2024, his film King of Kings debuted with $19.4 million , already a notable result for a production of this kind.

I'm sure the atheists in hollywood are completely perplexed as you how this could be more popular than the demonic abominations they produce.

Yes
If the film had featured a man dressed like a woman and called himself “Divine” I’m sure it would win an oscar.
I’m a grown up who can appreciate a well done cartoon once in a while. I like it best when if that cartoon has a well presented story and is not smothered by gratuitous violence, off topic focus on sex or over-amped CGI imagery.
I like that a reviewer states this movie does not seek to provoke. It does not indoctrinate. It does not mock figures of authority or try to confuse younger viewers.
The exact opposite Mission Statement from most other producers, i,e. Disney or Pixar.

Of note are the allusions to Revelation 12:4-5, and also Gen 35:16-18, when both Rachel and Benoni were whisked away from Bethlehem.
Love that ginger lamb!
"Don't you want to come out -- meet the new baby?"
The original release date was slated for November, but had been 'delayed' on account of the legal.. wrestling match for who had the rights. Slingshot or Angel. This was meant to be a no-violence arrival.
And so on December 19th, just as DAVID was to arrive in theaters, 3I/Atlas sling-shotted right back to wherever it came from. Conspiracy theorists hit hardest.
There was no delay; DAVID's arrival is all in the timing.
Some English translations retain the word "Shiloh", either as a title ("until Shiloh come," King James Version) or as a place name ("as long as men come to Shiloh," JPS Tanakh). Other translations render the whole phrase in English, yielding "until he comes to whom it belongs" (Revised Standard Version), "until tribute comes to him" (English Standard Version) or "until He whose right it is comes" (Holman Christian Standard Bible).
Genesis 49:10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.
Ezekiel 21:27 I will overturn, overturn, overturn, it: and it shall be no more, until he come whose right it is; and I will give it him.
And been praised by the critics like crazy.
On television, there is a series called leave it to Beaver.
