THIBODAUX, La. -- The teasing was relentless. Nude images of a 13-year-old girl and her friends, generated by artificial intelligence, were circulating on social media and had become the talk of a Louisiana middle school.
The girls begged for help, first from a school guidance counselor and then from a sheriff’s deputy assigned to their school. But the images were shared on Snapchat, an app that deletes messages seconds after they’re viewed, and the adults couldn’t find them. The principal had doubts they even existed.
Among the kids, the pictures were still spreading. When the 13-year-old girl stepped onto the Lafourche Parish school bus at the end of the day, a classmate was showing one of them to a friend.
“That’s when I got angry,” the eighth grader recalled at her discipline hearing.
Fed up, she attacked a boy on the bus, inviting others to join her. She was kicked out of Sixth Ward Middle School for more than 10 weeks and sent to an alternative school. She said the boy whom she and her friends suspected of creating the images wasn’t sent to that alternative school with her. The 13-year-old girl’s attorneys allege he avoided school discipline altogether.

There is a kinder gentler option....photoshop the offender with the principal, sheriff, and counselor in embarassing acts.
I’m a little confused. I think it must first be determined if the photos exist. Seems like they do.
Second it must be determined if said photos are AI.
If the photos are FAKE, and the girls never had nude photos of themselves taken, then what’s the big deal?
Boys looking at naked photos of GIRLS! Well, I never heard of such a thing. /s
“It seems odd that neither the school nor police cared.”
‘The girls begged for help, first from a school guidance counselor and then from a sheriff’s deputy assigned to their school.’
You may be onto something here. In these times I wouldn’t rule out the deputy and counselor being involved. Lately the public schools have been overrun with perverts.
You can bet your ass he or she was involved.
The boy will probably give the gators indigestion.
It is The American Way, now.
If this was your daughter, would it be a big deal? It's fake so what's the worry? Your daughter being bullied by it day in and day out maybe to the point where she lashes out and commits a crime herself or decides she just can't take it anymore and eats a bullet. Would that be a big deal?
The fraud that we call AI is loose in the wild and expanding exponentially without regard so this party is just getting started. Before we finally pull the plug on this fraud, most all of US will be thrown into the breech.
In the meantime, there's money to be made, so what's the big deal?
😂😂😂
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
I never downloaded a hard drive image of Hunter Biden’s laptop for similar reasons. It was readily available for a hot minute. I’d read descriptions of some of the images and noped right out on that download.
“He is also likely to wind up as gator bait in the next few months.”
I hope you mean that he’ll be dealt with by the girl’s family and friends. The boy and his buddies deserve everything bad to happen to them.
🙄
“... what is the value of minors having social media accounts.”
True. I’m all for kids having cell phones with calling and texting capabilities only, for safety. But no camera and block internet.
“she attacked a boy on the bus, inviting others to join her.”
In sixth grade, I hauled off and whacked a guy with my crutch so hard it almost knocked him — and me — over. It was in response to a bullying incident. He’d been doing it since kindergarten.
Nobody got into trouble. He had a new attitude through graduation day.
Told her that if she wanted to be emotionally abused by strangers who did not give a hoot about her she could do it once she was an adult but for now she was our kid.
That’s great - a responsible parent. You’re doing the kids a favorite, whether they know it or not.
That is exactly what I mean. Louisiana is well known, if quietly so, for suchbthings.
