The Kansas City Chiefs announced Monday they will relocate across the Kansas-Missouri border in a new domed stadium that will be ready by the 2031 season.
The move comes after a Kansas legislative committee approved a bonding package to support the move earlier in the day.
The Chiefs have played at Arrowhead Stadium on the Missouri side of Kansas City since 1972. Kansas City (Mo) Mayor Quinton Lucas and city officials planned to address the media later Monday.

Is it true that Travis Kelce may have to be QB the remainder of the season? Saw the headline somewhere…
The move comes after a Kansas legislative committee approved spending other people's money.
There, fixed it
How nice; a bond package for a football stadium that 100% will pay for and only 5% can afford a ticket to sit in. I can guarantee they will be seeking a new stadium long before the old one has been paid off by the slaves.
Nine regular season games a year.
I can’t understand why stadiums cost in the billions of dollars nowadays.
This puts the state of Kansas on the major leagues sports map. Is it worth it? Does it make sense, in dollars and cents?
And yet with talk of how KC Missouri is losing the Chiefs, they will still be in the same metropolitan area.
The Hunts are poor, they need the help. If I was rich I would have a baseball team, 81 home games a year.
Nice. Now change the name of the team to the Kansas City Somalians.
It’s still going to be in Kansas City but it’s going to be in Kansas City, Kansas instead of Kansas City, Missouri.
Awesome for the taxpayers. How much should they expect to receive in dividends? Will they be based on gross profits or net profits?
Merry Christmas! Man, I wish I could spend other people’s money for my Christmas presents.
If I remember correctly, the Chiefs used to be the Dallas Texans in the old AFL.
Perfect example of Taxation Without Representation. But who's counting.

Wow! I cleaned that stadium alot as a cadet at Wentworth Military Academy. Wonder if crime was one of the reasons to leave?
KCMO is a dying city rife with corruption and crime and stupidity. However, Arrowhead is fantastic stadium. Still, probably needs a rebuild with a roof so they don’t have to play in 20 below weather.
Sounds like out by the Legends and the racetrack. That is a long haul west from downtown KC.
Clark Hunt is the son of Lamar Hunt
Lamar and his brothers Nelson Bunker Hunt and William Herbert Hunt famously attempted to “corner” the silver market in 1980. The scheme collapsed in March 1980 when COMEX exhange raised its margin requirements to hold speculative futures using exchange-issued credit.
Behind the scenes though, there were rumors the Carter Administration also quietly sold government silver to push the price down, for political reasons, as the speculative fever of gold and silver were felt to be contributing to inflation expectations. The US Government had stopped issuing silver coins by then, so the Federal horde of silver was no longer needed.
Nelson and Bunker eventually filed for bankruptcy in 1988, but Lamar, who was not as deeply involved in the silver scheme, did not. Lamar never pledged the KC Chiefs as collateral for his silver-purchase loans.
I guess the very wealthy owners all expect taxpayers to fund their ball games?
