A Russian missile strike on port infrastructure in Odesa in southern Ukraine killed eight people and wounded 27, Ukraine’s emergency service said Saturday, as a a Kremlin envoy was set to travel to Florida for talks on a U.S.-proposed plan to end the nearly four-year war,
The discussions are part of the Trump administration's monthslong push for peace that also included meetings with Ukrainian and European officials in Berlin earlier this week. Ukraine's chief negotiator said late Friday that his delegation had completed separate meetings in the U.S. with American and European partners.
Meanwhile, European Union leaders agreed on Friday to provide a massive interest-free loan to Ukraine to meet its military and economic needs for the next two years.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said much will depend on the U.S. posture after discussions with the Russians.
Speaking at a press conference in Kyiv with Portuguese Prime Minister Luís Montenegro, Zelenskyy said that "the key question remains how the United States responds after consultations with the Russians. At this point, I honestly don’t know, but I will know later today."
Some of those wounded in Odesa were on a bus at the center of the strike late Friday, the emergency service said in a Telegram post. Trucks caught fire in the parking lot and cars were also damaged.
The port was struck with ballistic missiles, said Oleh Kiper, the head of the Odesa region.
Moscow did not immediately acknowledge reports of the attack. The Russian Defense Ministry said Saturday that over the previous day, it had struck unspecified "transport and storage infrastructure used by the Ukrainian armed forces," along with energy facilities and those supplying Kyiv's war effort.

“So, you don’t expect a Russian ground assault on Odessa? “
No.
I DO expect Russia to take out all Ukrainian port facilities on the Black Sea. But not an attempted occupation of Odessa.
Not as long as there’s a viable Ukrainian army.
I’ve read your opinions here and I’m going to respect them. I will keep putting up mine also. I am uninvolved in the action and have no effect on anything.
The truth will become known as it takes place. I wish you the best on a personal level.
Ridicule was invented to use on Marxist Adorno.
“Ukraine goes after military targets, Russia after civilians.”
>>>>>>>>>
Indeed.
It’s because Russia has an underwhelming and corrupt army. It’s too difficult for them to poke the Ukrainian Wolf (Ukrainian soldiers).
Thus, Putin has decided to hit civilian targets instead, schools, hospitals... So easy to aim at.
“The truth will become known as it takes place.”
Just wait until the ground freezes !!1
Yes Odessa has been getting more and more attention lately. If Putin takes that Ukraine will be a land locked country. Zelensky is a fool for letting this go on and on.

“Russia is an ally of the United States throughout history. Our people share the same traditional values.”
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Let’s sort this out.
No, we have not been an ally of Russia throughout history - except for a short period of time during WWII, because Germany and Japan were at that time seen as greater threats. “The enemy of my enemy is my friend.” Right?
But, these alliances are obviously always temporary. They exist only to serve a shared objective for a limited time.
While we can support the Russian people who are victims of a horrible light-Stalinist regime represented by Putin, we cannot say that the KREMLIN is a friend of America. The Kremlin foments anti-American deeds non-stop.
Trump sent a US nuclear submarine against Russia very recently after the Kremlin threatened America with nukes! Would a friendly nation treat America like that!? Right, the answer is no. But Russia does such things, never forget that.
Very recently, the Kremlin / Putin signed military security deals with Venezuela, Nicaragua and nuclear deals with Iran.
They have brought in North Korean communist troops to kill europeans and Ukrainians on European soil (as we speak). They also use Islamic Chechen forces to kill europeans and Ukrainians as well...
While Ukraine has no nations fighting with troops on its side...
Thus, Ukraine (30 times smaller than Russia) is fighting alone against a Islamo-NeoSoviet-Communist Axis as we speak!
Therefore, the Ukrainians are truly a courageous people.
May the good Lord bless and keep you no matter what your ideas may be. As for FR, “I think we’re all bozos on this bus.” (If you recognize that reference, you are rare these days.)
Time to use / revisit a September 2024 photo op. Zelensky with Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen in a US-made F-16. Incoming salvos of smiles.... ":)

Not much worthwhile in "YookSlurp™" comments, they just make the thread harder to read.
Merry Christmas, Traveler, ... no tax on Social Security, per President Trump!
Ho, Ho, Ho!
#42 - Very reasonable approach.
Maybe if you would stop accusing anybody who has an opinion that differs from yours of being “Putinistas” or “Russians” or things along that line, people would have tried to have reasonable discussions with you.
Many of us got tired of the barrage of insults and false accusations early on in this thing and stopped taking you seriously.
