Russian Missile Strike on Odesa Kills 8
Newsmax ^ | December 20, 2025

A Russian missile strike on port infrastructure in Odesa in southern Ukraine killed eight people and wounded 27, Ukraine’s emergency service said Saturday, as a a Kremlin envoy was set to travel to Florida for talks on a U.S.-proposed plan to end the nearly four-year war,

The discussions are part of the Trump administration's monthslong push for peace that also included meetings with Ukrainian and European officials in Berlin earlier this week. Ukraine's chief negotiator said late Friday that his delegation had completed separate meetings in the U.S. with American and European partners.

Meanwhile, European Union leaders agreed on Friday to provide a massive interest-free loan to Ukraine to meet its military and economic needs for the next two years.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said much will depend on the U.S. posture after discussions with the Russians.

Speaking at a press conference in Kyiv with Portuguese Prime Minister Luís Montenegro, Zelenskyy said that "the key question remains how the United States responds after consultations with the Russians. At this point, I honestly don’t know, but I will know later today."

Some of those wounded in Odesa were on a bus at the center of the strike late Friday, the emergency service said in a Telegram post. Trucks caught fire in the parking lot and cars were also damaged.

The port was struck with ballistic missiles, said Oleh Kiper, the head of the Odesa region.

Moscow did not immediately acknowledge reports of the attack. The Russian Defense Ministry said Saturday that over the previous day, it had struck unspecified "transport and storage infrastructure used by the Ukrainian armed forces," along with energy facilities and those supplying Kyiv's war effort.

It was telegraphed but Ukraine is kind of busy trying to cover the front with too few soldiers. Most Battalions (600-900 troops) are reported to be below 400 now. Some are under 200. Russia will probably just pound Odessa into relative submission and then send in troops. Russia is producing missiles fast and producing so many drones they are stockpiling them as well as using them. Russia is in control and in no hurry anywhere on the front.

Russia is an ally of the United States throughout history. Our people share the same traditional values.

The Ukrainian government was installed by Obama and the cabal as a headquarters for evil. Since then the cabal’s media has propagandizes us to think Russia is evil.

But Trump is working with Putin through back channels.

Ukraine goes after military targets, Russia after civilians.

It has become clear that Russia is going to be able to take as much of Ukraine as they want.

The war is closing in on Odessa.

Missiles launched from long distances is not the same as taking Odessa.

Odessa is 'ungettable' by Russia. They would need more than 1 million troops for an offensive against Odessa, but then, that would mean 1 million casualties for the Russians. Russia can't afford to send 1 million troops to Odessa, since they no longer have that kind of manpower and no support for them.

Imagine how much damage Ukraine could have inflicted on Russian cities, if they were to do to Russia what Russia does to Ukraine. But, Ukraine saves their missiles and drones to attack Russian infrastructure and military sites.

Russia does things that are war crimes. Ukraine does things to hit the Russian military infrastructure where it hurts the most.

You are correct and the USA and Russia could easily stabilize the world as allies. Europe is finished, it demilitarized itself. Islam will rule there.
The EU has no response To Russia other than a promise of money to Ukraine. There are no soldiers to buy, and few weapons available so “pockets” is where a lot of that money will go.
The USA needs to resupply itself with weapons and ammo. Islam is the largest threat in the world. It has learned to win by invasion without using armies and it can produce the numbers to eventually make that work.
Ukraine’s troops are in trenches taking 7 incoming artillery shells for every one they fire. They are running out of barrels, which wear out after an average of 100 shots, which means quickly, like days.

It was telegraphed but Ukraine is kind of busy trying to cover the front with too few soldiers.

Ukraine is causing massive casualties against the Russians, and the number Russians killed is at the rate of 5 to each Ukrainian.

In order to overtake Ukraine, Russia needs a 20 to 1 advantage, but even then, it may not happen.

The numerical advantage that Russia had at the beginning of the war is no longer there. Attrition is a dummy's warfare tactic and can't work anymore against modern weapons and modern strategies.

“Islam is the largest threat in the world.”

Islam is nothing without its western allies which is the cabal in the U.K. When we take out that cabal, islam will return to its camels drifting through the sandstorms.

“Ukraine goes after military targets, Russia after civilians.”

The boldest liars are the ones that are completely ignorant of the truth.

Just curious, why would you choose “adorno” as screen name?

The only well known Adorno was Theodor Adorno, a crypto communist infiltrator from the Franfurt school.

Russia is an ally of the United States throughout history.

Baloney!

Russia is and has always been an enemy of America. That we went along with detente doesn't mean that we were friends.

Russia and it's former edition, have always been a pain in the ass to the U.s. and the whole world.

Even during WW2 we were not friends with them; we fought a common enemy. The Soviet Union returned to being the aggressive nation they had always been, and Russia continues that 'tradition'.

With the Ukies attacking the fourth Russian tanker in international waters, I fully expect Odessa WILL be lost, ( in retaliation), and Ukraine stumbles into becoming a land locked rump nation.

Odesssa has been reported to be deelectrified for three days, ( all 40 sub stations destroyed), the two main bridges to Odessa blown, and rumors of Vlad to start retaking Odessa in weeks...no tears.

“Missiles launched from long distances is not the same as taking Odessa. “

There is no route to Odessa that doesn’t involve crossing wide, deep water. As long as there is a viable Ukrainian force on the other side, Russia won’t even try.

Russia cannot do what the US would do in this situation and historically they have never assumed a large water crossing or large aerial assault.

Why did Russia support us in our Revolution, and in our civil war?

The Soviet Union was never Russian.

People thought it was Russian in the same way people thing our own Senior Executive Service is American (and its kinfolk like Clinton and Obama).

But our SES is, like the Soviets were to Russia, an infiltration of America.
