The gunman who killed two students at Brown University was found dead in a storage unit after murdering an MIT professor as their decades-old connection was revealed.
The suspect - 48-year-old Claudio Neves Valente - was revealed to be a Portuguese national who studied at the Ivy League school in Rhode Island more than 20 years ago.
He had attended Brown to pursue a masters of science in physics from 2000 to 2001, before he took a leave of absence and ultimately withdrew from the school.
It remains unclear why Neves Valente opened fire at the Rhode Island school, killing Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov, 18, of Virginia, and Ella Cook, of Alabama, 19.
But University President Christina Paxson said it was likely he took classes inside that building when he attended the school.
Neves Valente opened fire during a study session at the Ivy League's School of Engineering Barus and Holley Building on December 13.
Two days later, he fatally shot MIT Professor Nuno Loureiro inside his Boston home.
Authorities revealed that gunman original target was Loureiro and the pair had attended the same school in Portugal from 1995 to 2000.
It was unclear what the shooter's motive was or what his relationship with Loureiro had been.
The suspect was ultimately found dead after a six-day manhunt, when authorities located a vehicle he used parked outside of a storage facility in Salem, New Hampshire - more than 80 miles from the Ivy League school.

But we don’t know that. Maybe Claudio wanted to teach at the school and went to the MIT guy for a reference...and he turned him down.

I suspect certain Powers That Be prefer it remain that way.
Having had exposure to all sorts of crazy people in my career in medicine, and however much I wanted to believe the target was Ella Cook and this loser was sent by the Deep State, it is now much more likely that this guy is a lifetime loser on the paranoid schizophrenia spectrum (gay shit optional), who lost his big chance back in Portugal when the MIT guy fired him and blamed Brown U engineering department for the fact that his life was a mess and that he wasn’t a professor at MIT himself.
There are thousands of people in prison, in mental hospitals, and roaming the streets hurting people who fit this profile. Ella Cook was, I bet, collateral damage on the shooter’s way to kill the monster from MIT who ruined his imaginary life.

Diversion as in shooting 50 rounds of ammunition, potentially killing more than 10 young people/kids, just to distract attention from his real motive - killing an old classmate. Seems like a hell of diversion, could’ve simply killed the professor in Brookline, if that was his motive. He still was almost able to get away with Professor’s murder, Keystone cops located his storage facility whereabouts (through his car connection) ONLY because of his Brown’s “diversion” activities.
Nothing really makes sense here:
Where in the US did this guy reside?
What is his occupation?
Does he have a family and/or acquaintances?
How did he obtain his weapons?
Pre-meditated or spontaneous? Planning indicates pre-meditated, shooting the child in the face 10 times screams spontaneous/in a fury.
And, most importantly, why did he kill himself at the storage facility and not at the scene of his Brookline crime? He was successful in his murder(s), he didn’t know cops were converging on him through his car connection. Why not to try to disappear on foot/train from Brookline? He had two days to do that, what did he do for two full days after Professor’s killing? Again, if pre-meditated, he should’ve run away, at least try to; if it was an act of some vengeance - he would’ve committed suicide earlier.
I live near the University of Illinois. Some years ago a physics PHD candidate dropped out of the program. He went on to murder a female Chinese post doc that just arrived on campus. His wife went away for an extended weekend and he decided to pursue his sick fantasies. Somehow he was able to coax her into the car and slaughtered her in his apartment. It took awhile to solve the case. There was a grainy video of her getting into the car. Much like the Idaho murder case, authorities were able to narrow the car type and give local authorities something to work with.

If true, the guy spent almost two weeks casing the Brown site. Did he do the same in Brookline? Which murder was a diversion and which was the “real thing”?
Things I’m curious about:
Valente’s actual time of death? How long after his last murder?
Had he rented the storage unit, or just went into some place opportunistically to hide?
Was anything found with him beyond 2 firearms?
Where did he live and what did he do for a living from 2002 through recently?
Source of funds?
Recent life setbacks like divorce, job loss, terminal illness?
Did he now or ever have a wife, children, gay lover?
Brony, tranny, etc?
What was his beef with the MIT professor (Professional jealousy? Blamed him for stealing his ideas/girlfriend?)
Why now?
