LOS ANGELES — Legendary director Rob Reiner and his longtime wife have been found stabbed to death inside their Brentwood home and investigators are eyeing the couple’s troubled adult son as a person of interest, according to law enforcement sources.
Officers were called to the home Sunday afternoon, where they discovered a man and woman with stab wounds, according to sources.
The Los Angeles Fire Department told NBC Los Angeles that a 78-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman were found dead inside the home.
Post sources confirmed the bodies discovered were the longtime couple, who married in 1989. The couple’s 32-year-old son and screenwriter Nick Reiner is a person of interest in the deadly stabbing, the sources added.
Reiner, 78, is best known for directing a slew of classic ’80s and ’90s hit films, including “When Harry Met Sally,” “The Princess Bride,” “This is Spinal Tap” and “A Few Good Men.”
He first rose to fame for his role as Mike “Meathead” Stivic on the CBS sitcom “All in the Family,” which landed him two Emmy Awards.

But as an actor he effectively stereotyped the typical middle-class counter-culture hippie of the time (1970’s) with his very effective portrayal as Archie Bunker’s wacko son-in-law. Despite his politics, parricide and matricide are horrible crimes, and, if Nick Reiner was the killer, being executed by your own child is a terrible way to die.

If the son has schizophrenia or other type of psychopathy, then it’s very likely he did kill the parents.
Drug use is very damaging to those with mental health issues.
