I have a family member who enlightens me constantly with all the “evidence”...like you said, they can think of almost anything to justify the lack of the evidence of the existence and non- existence of aliens.
Some of the big reasons for the absence of obvious evidence ..
Evidence of the reality of aliens would shock the society so much there would be societal collapse, so it is kept secret. Nefarious world order is working with aliens to subjugate humans. Anyone who has seen real evidence is sworn to secrecy, or be put to death. People who have seen the evidence remain unnamed, for fear of ostracization.
In all , it is an interesting phenomena regarding societal acceptance of different types or evidence. And how false teachers (for money, or ignorance) are ubiquitous.

If what you said was true there would be empirical verification. Psychics have been tested 1000s of times and are no more accurate than chance.

No real photos of a big foot, no real photos of ghost, no real photos of a vampire or chupacabra, no real photos of a honest to god UFO that's not a grainy mess.
