President Donald Trump suffered a major political setback on Thursday in his push to pass congressional redistricting in red states.
After months of arm-twisting by the president, top allies and aligned groups, the Indiana Senate voted down a new map championed by Trump that would have created two more right-leaning congressional districts in the solidly red Midwestern state, where the GOP controls seven of Indiana's nine U.S. House seats.
The districts of Democratic Reps. Frank Mrvan and Andre Carson would have been eliminated.
The vote in the chamber was 31-19, with 21 Republicans joining 10 Democrats in voting against the new map.

fail to see how this is a major blow against Trump. If we lose the house majority because of this, every Republican voter in Indiana will be disenfranchized because the issues they care about wont even come up for votes much less be passed. It will be nothing but more impeachments 24/7
Back to where the squish rinos are most comfortable. Out of power while Getting the table scraps from the democrats.
This is why I don't want Senate Republicans to get rid of the filibuster. They'll inherit this awesome power and do nothing with it only to turn it over to the Democrats who will wield it like a nuclear arsenal.
Steve Bannon’s experts said the defectors were from the George Bush and Mike Pence camps. They think Trump is finished and they’re positioning themselves to move back in and take over the Republican party. Bannon suggested the White House politicos better get off their duffs and get to work.
I’d suggest the same for Trump. His approval rate is falling. I think people are tired of his overseas emphasis and the preoccupation with building his ballroom and the gilt he’s splashing on everything. He’ll lose the House and Senate for us if he doesn’t focus on his real responsibilities—following through on the issues that won him the election. I don’t care that he settled a war in Timbuktu. Stop making big promises and start showing some results, Trump. Stop attacking Biden; he’s as good as dead.
Two Republicans? No, two RINOS who very likely were paid off for their NO vote.
There, fixed it.
The proposed map seem to be drawn by people whose only connection to Indiana was as a place to fly over while jetting somewhere else. They wouldn’t even tell us who had drawn up the map. It was a state secret and there were no leakers!
Unfortunately, we will all live with it.
These Senators said that Trump has no juice now. One of them left town to watch his kid play baseball at their 2nd home in Fla. and intentionally missed the vote.
This.
Deep State.
They don’t care. They view Trump and MAGA as yesterday’s news and are waiting on Pence, Bushes and Dems to help them.
Note to the admin...
Don’t just primary the Republicans.
Find MAGA Donald Dems to run in ‘Rat primaries.
Until we do that we are fighting half a battle.
“When they call the roll in the Senate, the Senators do not know whether to answer ‘Present’ or ‘Not Guilty’.”
― Theodore Roosevelt
I guess some things don’t change.
Plautus (via Julius Caesar’s words in Shakespeare): “You yourself / Are much condemn’d to have an itching palm; / To sell and mart your offices for gold / To undeservers” (referencing bribery in Roman politics).
Meanwhile, in the House:
