It's been only a few weeks since Google introduced 'AI Overview' in its search engine, but the public criticism has already been overwhelming.
*snip*
Social media users have shared a huge variety of screenshots showing the AI tool giving funny, incorrect, and downright concerning responses.

Do you know anything about how it works? For instance, does Grok figure out what you want to hear and then starts feeding you that, regardless of whether it makes logical sense? Is it a mind game?
This list did not have one of my favorites from ChatGPT:
“f you ask Google “Is the swimming pool on the Titanic still full?”, Google AI replies:
AI Overview
No, the swimming pool on the Titanic is not currently filled with water. The pool is likely empty due to several factors, including the pool’s base cracking as the ship sank and the crew’s focus on passenger evacuation. Additionally, the immense water pressure at the Titanic’s depth would crush any voids within the ship, including the pool.
Here’s a more detailed explanation:
Cracked Pool Base:
As the ship sank, the structure of the Titanic was severely damaged, and the pool’s base is likely to have cracked, allowing the water to escape.
Evacuation Priority:
The crew was primarily focused on the safety of passengers and evacuating them, not on maintaining the pool’s water level.
Water Pressure:
At the Titanic’s depth of 12,500 feet (3,800 meters), the water pressure is immense, which would likely crush any empty spaces within the ship, including the pool.”
This has been posted on LinkedIn and Reddit.
It’s all California.
You mean there are nuanced differences by location?
Why didn’t A I tell us that?
I’ve had Grok (and the others) disagree with me.
AI also doesn’t understand sarcam.
Fake!

Short answer: Yes — but only because the entire ship is underwater.
The RMS Titanic sank in 1912, and the wreck lies on the ocean floor at about 3,800 meters depth. The swimming pool, along with all other interior spaces, is completely flooded and has been for over a century.
So the humorous answer people give is:
“Yes, the pool is still full… of seawater.”
“I was always careful to present both theories of that beginning. “
Sad
“In some ways we’d be better off without AI. “
In what ways?
A lot of those funny AI answers get fixed right after they go viral. So you might not get the answer that the original person who saw it posted.
If you are creative, you can manage to elicit some very funny AI responses for yourself. You just have to devise a suitable prompt.
Recently, Apple released update 26.1 for the iPhone. With this update, you can upload your passport information (or driver’s license in some states) into the wallet app. My husband and son both did this, but I couldn’t on my iPhone SE. I went to AI to ask whether it is possible to put my passport information into an iPhone SE. The answer is that I absolutely can, but I can’t. Big help there, AI.
I have been using AI to generate images. Some of them are cute. Some are genuinely horrifying.
