SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. — Deputies in Southwest Florida had their hands full when a 14-foot, 600-pound alligator decided to rest on the doorstep of a Sarasota residence.
It took seven deputies with the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office and a licensed trapper to dislodge the massive reptile and lift it onto a truck.
“This massive guest had plans to stay for the holidays, but we had other ideas,” the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post.
The alligator was nearly a record-breaker for length, coming up a few inches short of the state’s record.

Gator ping!
I thought they only had 4 feet. How many legs did that sucker have???
“I thought they only had 4 feet. How many legs did that sucker have???”
Four.
That’s a big gator...
It took 8 or 9 deputies, all working together, to load the gator into a pick-up truck.
The alligator’s jaws had been taped shut.
It’s a variant specific to the state of Florida, sort of like Florida Man is a variant of man specific to Florida.
It’s been said that an alligator’s tail is as dangerous as the jaws......if not even MORE dangerous.
Why are they shot, skinned, and the meat offered for sale?
I never knew gators had a retirement plan. This one lives off the state from now on.
“safely relocated and released on an alligator farm.”
“This one lives off the state from now on.”

dumb yankeees have always paid good money to stare at gators at alligator farms......always have.

P.T. Barnum was right all along.
That’s where my aunt lived...and I visited. She said to run crooked...
Makes a nice addition to etouffee or gumbo.
“...That’s a big gator.....”
Yep. he’s no baby and dangerous.
But he’s a piker compared to what quietly lays in wait in the Atchafalya or the Choke Canyon reservoir....critters big enough in both of em that could likely swallow a man whole....
That’s A big gator!
Yep, just short of the state record.
