A former World Trade Center worker who also "narrowly escaped" the September 11 terror attacks in 2001 has been beaten to death in New York City by three teenagers. One of the teens was just 12 years old at the time of the beating.
Long Island native Roger Borkum, 64, was found after three teenagers were seen “kicking and stomping” on him, according to an arrest report in Florida. Borkum was found with blood around his head and a "blood trail extending down the sidewalk,” a police report said.
Justin Curry, 13, Marcavion Lacey, 19, and Robert Pope, 17, have all been arrested in connection to the brutal beating. All three of the teens have been charged with murder. Pope and Lacey were detained shortly after the attack on Borkum.
When police arrived on the scene, they "discovered Roger Borkum had been severely beaten. He was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries four days later," a press release from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.
The report said that the three teens were going through the man's backpack, and then about 20 minutes later, returned and kicked him multiple times, per the New York Post.
One of the suspects said they attacked Borkum because the 64-year-old man had "dissed" their "dead homies," the report said. Borkum worked on the 77th floor of Tower 1 at the World Trade Center. He had been fired in July 2001, and "narrowly escaped" death and saw “his coworkers perish" in the terror attack.

One who was not fired and did not survive was Rick Rescorla (Morgan Stanley head of security who got most of them out on that day).Formerly of the British Army (Rhodesia) he joined the US Army, retired as a Col. Rescorla’s Vietnam combat buddy Dan Hill was the last to hear from him on 9-11 by phone before the tower came down on top of him and all others- Rick having gone back in to make sure all had gotten out.
Hill’s life story is one of many different undercover actions, including conversion to Islam in the Katanga Rebellion and sending the Blind Sheik to life/death in Federal prison (for 1993 tower bombing and a whole lot else).

Strong oak trees used to have a second purpose after providing shade in the hot South. I wish that second mission still existed.
St Augustine is amazing and I would love to live there, except for the fact that it has the flooding and it looks like you can only get into the city by that lion gate. The traffic can be pretty bad. Parking downtown is horrible. But some of the best pizza in Florida is at pizza time on St. George’s Street
I am living here 9 years, never had my street flooded. It only floods in downtown area which is next to ocean water.
Traffic gets really bad downtown during holidays with tourists coming to see entire downtown covered with millions of lights (buildings and trees). But I seldom need to go downtown, my house is about 5 miles away. There is good shopping & medical facilities close to my house. You can enter St Augustine off of I-95 during 3 exits. I can go to beaches without using Lions bridge which connects downtown with beach area.
