Jay Leno honors ‘for better or worse’ marriage vow as wife battles dementia

Comedian Jay Leno is taking his wedding vows seriously.

Leno candidly opened up about honoring the promises he made more than 40 years ago as his wife, Mavis, battles advanced dementia.

"The idea that you get married and take these vows — nobody ever thinks they’ll be called on to act on them, you know?" Leno said on the "Today" show.

My marriage of 8 yrs was broken by her teen son. The incorrigible fkr was completely uncontrollable. The courts even decided to take him and stick him in a 9 month teen program at 16. Zero results. The kid had fathered his 5th child by the time he was 19. He went to prison and was back in town after 1-1/2 years. I cracked. It would have been easier for me if she’d screwed the jerk neighbor. She was powerless to control that kid. And I had to leave. Ripped my guts out.

My uncle had fallen 3 times when he was 89-90 years old. First a wrenched shoulder then broken ribs then wrist and he started to develop dementia. His caretaker thought is was caused by the drugs he was given interacting with the heart medicine due to a bypass he had been taking for many years.
