Anna Kepner, a teen who died aboard a Carnival Horizon cruise ship earlier this month, was found dead under a bed, wrapped in a blanket and covered by life vests, according to a security source briefed on the investigation.

The 18-year-old cheerleader from Titusville, Florida, was reported dead while aboard the Carnival Horizon cruise ship on Nov. 8. The Miami-Dade medical examiner has not specified a cause or manner of her death.

Among the avenues investigators are looking at is whether there might have been some sort of altercation with her stepbrother prior to her death, the source told ABC News. Investigators are also looking at other possibilities, including a medical emergency or an overdose, the source said.

Investigators are poring over ship security records, including security camera footage and access-card swipes, to get a picture of who was where at the various times prior to her death, the source said.

A court filing in an unrelated family court matter noted Kepner's stepsibling could face charges.

The filing said the FBI is conducting an investigation "arising out of the sudden death of 18 year old Anna Kepner."

Yeah, a drug overdose. She died and covered herself with a blanket and life vests then crawled under a bed. 🙄

I'm surprised (but maybe I shouldn't be) that ABC is putting this type of speculation out there so early in the process. Now the stepbrother is tagged as a potential murderer by a national news organization even before the autopsy.

That’s what autopsies are for......my guess would be strangulation.

A court filing in an unrelated family court matter noted Kepner's stepsibling could face charges.

This suggest that there may have been problems between the stepsiblings in the past.

One might wonder which (if any) “spectrum” stepbrother identifies with.

Supposedly the family was all going to eat and this young girls said she wasn’t feeling well and went back to the room.

Seems that hallway video could pretty well identify who went into that room.

She was obviously killed b/c of the way her body was carefully wrapped up and shoved under the bed.

Not an overdose at all. Hope whoever did this get thrown overboard...

“Seems that hallway video could pretty well identify who went into that room.”

It should, I just hope it exists......cruise ships are not registered in the U.S. (at least I’ve never seen one that was) so I have to wonder about how regulated their security systems are.

Time will tell.

Seems that hallway video could pretty well identify who went into that room.

They know exactly who entered that room and when.

They either have card readers or RF chip tags, that individually identifying the user.

Princess cruises have RF tags for each individual on the ship that can pinpoint where you are at any time. The passengers can down load an app to find their travel mates. Kind of a nice feature.

I have not been on a Carnival ship so I don't know what they do. But they are owned by the same company.

Aren’t most Carnival Cruise deaths related to running out of chicken nuggets at the buffet?

Sorry, but “may have” assertions still do not justify further speculations being reported in an ongoing case before an autopsy has even been performed, for it subverts the possibility of obtaining unbiased jury selection pools.

Right the wrapping and positioning post death is suspicious and evidence of interaction from someone else at time of death or just after.

Never move a body that just died suddenly.

I know little about cruises. I don’t like being out in a vast ocean on a ship stuck with what could be potential crazies and being unable to get away from them.

I will go out on boats with people I know. At the end of the day we dock and go home. LOL

Same reasons going on planes anymore makes me very nervous.

In an ideal world you are correct.

But in the real world people are going to speculate.

And anyone with access to that room is going to be a suspect.

And if the two siblings have a history of violent interactions that puts him at the top of the list.

And it seems as if Stepmom may have a violent streak.

I guess that stepmom is filing for a delay in the court hearing because she may incriminate herself or her minor child.

There was a time when news organizations followed certain rules of reporting that did not inject speculation or opinion into their reporting.

But as the Lord was set to the side, so were the retrictions they observed.

So, did that time not really take place in the real world, or has the real world changed by due to its turning away from the firm belief in a creator & Lord?
