Republican Congressman Thomas Massie of Kentucky went against the most powerful leaders of his party to push forward with a vote to release more Jeffrey Epstein investigation files. That vote is expected to happen this week. House Speaker Mike Johnson, who for months has sought to avoid the politically charged issue, only agreed to schedule the vote after Massie helped lead a bipartisan coalition of House members to force his hand.
The vote will be the culmination of months of growing demands from the public and within Congress demanding transparency about the disgraced financier’s ties to powerful figures. Trump himself tried and failed to pressure Massie and a handful of other Republicans to retract their support for releasing the files
While Massie, 54, looks to many like an outcast in his own party, he tells TIME this potential win may give him momentum to make other things happen in Congress. “I think I've just demonstrated I can get something done with the Speaker against me, the President against me, the Vice President against me, and the FBI director against me,” says Massie, who has served in the House since 2012. "If you can get something done in the face of all that, then I think my prospects are pretty good."
The bill before the House is called the Epstein Files Transparency Act. It would require the Justice Department to make public within 30 days all files, communications and investigative materials related to Epstein and his longtime associate Ghislaine Maxwell. It would allow the redaction of details identifying victims or interfering with ongoing investigations but prohibit the department from withholding information over concerns of “embarrassment, reputational harm, or political sensitivity.”

Massie is useless to the R team and has never done anything but preen himself.
He does collect paychecks from the taxpayer, but never shows any accomplishments for being paid.
Conservatives don’t vote for raising taxes. He’s a dem like you.
Both are.
This is going to be another Liz Cheney going to the rats.
Why are we wasting our time with this rather than working together to improve our economy and getting our people fed? The whole country through media arm twisting knows our politicians morally are corrupt, the island is closed and Epstein is dead, and our voters continue to vote for the same people that we know are in that situation of being corrupt, so why waste time on it. The only reasons this is in the news is that the liberals are working on the 2026 midterms and the big election in 2028 by trying to corrupt Trump and anyone attached to him. And the GOP is helping them? Look where the article came from and you should get the picture.

They are reaching Liz Cheney status
..
There is some measure of credit deserved in having gone against the Swamp and won. The President now supports releasing the files. The President has always been a drain the Swamp guy, but we have seen the power of the Swamp.
Now if you REALLY want to see Swamp, have a look at attempts to make the deficit zero. Remember any of those? Remember who voted No on any bill that did not do that?
The bill before the House called the Epstein Files Transparency Act would require:
<><>DoJ make public within 30 days
<><>all files, communications and investigative materials wrt Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.
<><>allows redacting id’ing victims, or details interfering w/ ongoing investigations
<><>but prohibits DOJ from withholding information
<><>embarrassment, reputational harm, or political sensitivity are all fair game.
Smoking the good stuff these days, eh?
>He’s arguably the most conservative guy in Congress
He’s not a ‘conservative’, Massie actually argues for/supports the Constitution. (C) merely conserve the status quo & give lip service to the Law of the Land
If Trump is not specifically named as a predator - they will say it was doctored, scrubbed, etc........
Exactly! Seeds of doubt...Same thing deep state did with JFK etc. People will always be questioning where the rest of it is. The question isnt why not release it? It’s why hasnt it been released sooner? Massie and MTG are useful idiots.
Epstein has been dead since 2019. His cellmate died in 2020. Virginia Giuffre, one of the main accusers, wrote a book on the subject and then committed suicide. Two other accusers, Carolyn Andriano and Leigh Skye Patrick both died of drug overdoses. Joe Recarey who was the lead detective in West Palm Beach FL died in 2018 following a “brief illness”. Epstein’s butler Alfredo Rodriguez, who stole the “little black book”, died in 2014. Others involved including journalists, financiers, lawyers etc are all passed away. Many by suicide. Obviously there is something that cannot or will not ever be released. Congress releasing files isnt going to change that. That you can count on.
You wouldn’t know a star rising if it smacked you in your face my moronic freeper
A handful of Republicans joined with EVERY democrat to get an issue voted on.
Was that really wise Massie ?
Why does the POTUS demonize Libertarians (Paul, Massie) while playing golf constantly with Lindsey Graham?
I observe demonization of Libertarians (Paul, Massie) by the President.
Then the President turns around and constantly plays golf with Senator Lindsey Graham and has fully endorsed him for re-election next year.
That’s something to think about ask a question about.
Politics is a filthy business, filled with thieves and no-counts, with the exception being Donald John Trump. If there is one politician in my lifetime who deserves our support it's him and support is something this cadre of Libertarian swine will never give him.
No you don't.
Yea, him and MTG.
Take a look at the Libertarian Party plank.
LOL. He’s either another Adam Kinzinger, another Liz Cheney, or the cheese luring the Dem/Left into the Epstein trap. We’ll see which it turns out to be.
