Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene said Sunday she will stop using “toxic” rhetoric, marking what would be a dramatic shift in a political brand hallmarked by derogatory comments.
“I would like to say, humbly, I’m sorry for taking part in the toxic politics; it’s very bad for our country,” Greene said. “It’s been something I’ve thought about a lot, especially since Charlie Kirk was assassinated.”
Greene said she realized that she has participated in or supported heated rhetoric that has resulted in threats toward others, a point of reflection for her.
“I’m only responsible for myself and my own words and actions … and I’ve been working on this a lot lately, to put down the knives in politics,” Greene said. “I really want to just see people be kind to one another.”
Greene said Sunday she’s done participating in politics in that way, adding that America needs to find “a new path forward,” and calling on people “to come together and end all the toxic, dangerous rhetoric and divide.”
“I’m leading the way with my own example, and I hope that President Trump can do the same,” she said.

She’s not backpedaling her comments about Trump or policy (domestic and foreign.) .
She’s backpedaling some of her more incendiary remarks, the more personally directed ones...mostly to members of the Left and also some conspiracy Q-anon type stuff.
She is glinuficring and kissing marxist ass, is what she is doing.
Cave woman.
and hoping Trump will do the same.
feck that
Uh... You’ve already said quite enough, Hon.
I didnt have a problem with her statement until she mentioned she was leading the way and maybe Trump would choose a similar change too. If she is truly meaning to focus changing herself and choice of words she should have just stated that. Not get a dig in on Trump.
Marjorie Traitor Greene
Yeah, MTG, and you dress slutty, too!
She is getting her wish.
Gurlboss fatigue.
She could have just as easily said "I hope that my friends across the aisle can do the same," but she didn't.
Even with her apology, she had to take a back-handed swipe at President Trump.

Trump's new handle for her works, but so would have "Marjorie Tailor Cheney."
Step 1 to running for Senate: Reinvent your public image (but not yourself).
She’s not sorry, and not changing. She’s listening to her campaign managers and saying what they tell her she needs to say to get to higher office.
McCain is dead and Linda is on his way. Nature abhors a vacuum and she plans to fill it.
Apology or not, she’s still an idiot with a mouth larger than her brain. A good solid conservative Republican would never engage in the antics that got her into trouble in the first place. She’s an attention whore and will be right back at it once the heat is off.
I have as much use for her as I do AOC.
Bingo. When she decided to run for the Senate Trump discretely showed her a poll that had her 20 points down to the Dem. So she’s trying to reinvent herself.
@RepMTG
Here’s hoping it isn’t too late for you - you have potential but ran amok with it instead of being productive.
Leading the way by example, involves action, not words.
If she has to announce that she’s leading the way by example, it means she’s not setting the example, she’s talking about it.
I liked MTG, she has spirit, but she’s rapidly jumping the shark with her latest actions and words. Shut up Mags.
Never accept an apology from a narcissist, because they are manipulation, not an apology. I highly suspect MTG is a narcissist.
MTG the Weathervane?
She’s a populist now trying to get some Liberal support.
