Because "equity" demands it, some cities will allow violent criminals to avoid jail over and over if they have the right skin color, religion, gender identity, or other "minority" status.

William Livingston is a 32-year-old black man with a long rap sheet who has been accused of punching woman after woman, year after year, in random attacks on Chicago sidewalks. Here's a link to the 2022 interview with one of his victims.
Authorities have continued to treat Livingston with kids gloves, releasing him back into the public time and time again.
After his most recent punching spree in June went viral, however, he is finally being charged with two felony charges of aggravated battery.
An investigation by CBS News Chicago found William Livingston has been arrested at least 20 times dating back to 2012 but keeps being released from custody.
In June, Livingston was identified by two victims as their attacker. He struck a 40-year-old woman and a 29-year-old woman in separate incidents in the 2700 block of North Clark Street on June 12.
Sadly, after the June attack, he was RELEASED AGAIN.
Police only locked him up after he attacked Kathleen Miles in August.
Kathleen Miles was knocked out cold on August 19 while walking in Chicago's Loop district He has been in custody in Cook County jails since August, when prosecutors said he knocked a woman out as she was walking in the Loop.
Since the purpose of a system is what it does, one might wonder if Chicago's system that keeps releasing serial woman punchers is purposely trying to get women killed.
Now that everyone is paying attention, however, the system seems keen on getting the case out of the national spotlight as fast as possible.
Livingston was set to appear for a detention hearing Thursday morning but the Cook County State's Attorney's Office said he is being directly indicted in the case, which means they are taking the evidence straight to a grand jury.

Happened to me in New York City maybe ten years ago. Not a punch but a full body block into my shoulder. He was going the other way on the crosswalk. I didn’t fall down. But the New Yorkers just kept on walking and said nothing. The wife was in front of me and didn’t know it had happened.
