Former Minneapolis police officer Tou Thao has been released from federal prison and was seen in recent photos reuniting with his children after years behind bars. Thao was sentenced to nearly five years in prison over the 2020 death of George Floyd.
A fundraiser launched to help support Thao and his family as he rebuilds his life stated, "After Tou’s release from his political imprisonment, many have asked for a way to donate and show their support. This GiveSendGo was created in response to those heartfelt offers of support. Tou also is thankful for all the letters of encouragement both from home and abroad."
"What the enemy meant for evil, God used it for good. Providence sent him to a hospital prison. This allowed him to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with many terminally ill inmate patients. God healed many and many entered into eternity to meet their Savior. After 3+ years of having his faith refined and tested, he was reunited with his wife and three children. In closing, we are truly overwhelmed with gratitude for the outpouring of love, encouragement, and generosity. God bless you all!"
Photos shared to the fundraiser showed Thao on Tuesday embracing his children as they ran to him at a playground.
Thao told Alpha News in May about his children, "I’ve missed birthdays, Christmas. I don’t even know how tall they are anymore. Difficult to miss parts of childhood. Never get it back. All because people want to get promotions, publicity and make money." He said he did not have his children visit him in prison because " I just don’t want them, having that image … that type of trauma."
Thao had been sentenced to four years and nine months in prison for his role in the death of George Floyd, which sparked massive riots across the country. Thao testified during the trial that he was a "human traffic cone," and was holding back pedestrians who gathered at the scene as then-officer Derek Chauvin, subdued Floyd. The cashiers at a local store had called police on Floyd after claiming he tried to pass a counterfeit bill.
Thao had been found guilty of aiding and abetting second-degree manslaughter. His state sentence ran concurrently with the three and a half year sentence handed down in the federal case against him.
That dude should sue. He didn’t have anything to do with Floyd’s death.
I agree. Even the one who did really did not do it on purpose. He was just poorly trained.
George Floyd killed himself after swallowing the fentanyl he was selling. 3ng will kill you. He had 11ng plus several other drugs in his system plus a bad heart.
I hope those police officers will make millions from the corrupt people who put them in jail.
Even Floyds relatives did not like him. They did not collect his property from his place. They took the money they received from from the taxpayers and ran.
Trump should have pardoned him and the other LEOs in January.
none of them did...this was a political imprisonment. That filth had a drug induced heart attack and died while resisting arrest. All on him.
The Commie state of Minnesota should burn.
He couldn't - these were "crimes" against the fake state laws of the Commies in Minnesota.
It would be better if all the Minnesota scum, including the "judge", prosecutor and the jury, were taken out back, beaten, then strung up.
The Commies in the State of Minnesota should burn.
I grew up there, and it was a great place to be a kid. It’s just the stupid liberals have had power in the government too long, and proven once again...Socialism fails wherever it is tried.
Clean out about 500 moonbats from St. Paul, & it might be a decent place, again.
Is not the rookie cop who had only been on the job a few weeks?
I really felt bad for him.
Even more so than the other cops.
He got screwed.
Screwed by PC Just US
Thao’s civil rights were violated.
He should sue the prosecution and the state in federal court.
Malicious prosecution is still going on.
Floyd died of a drug overdose.
The manual that was NOT allowed as evidence.
Thee manual that was ignored by the police chief when he lied saying that Chauvin was not trained to do that.
A long (1hr 45 minutes) but excellent (and unbelievable) documentary about the Floyd arrest, riots and trial.
One of the amazing parts to me was how the politicians jumped on the suffocation thing so quick. Then the coroner does his study and says something like “He didn't suffocate. What do I do now?”
Go to 51:13 of that documentary for the exact comments. I was pretty close with my recollection.
Glad he is free at last. Give him a microphone and ask him to talk.. FOR DOING THE JOB THAT MINNEAPOLIS HAD HIRED HIM TO DO.
A victim of the woke/Marxist mind virus.
The leftist who lied and intimidated jury members have much to answer for.

The Minnesota ballot-harvesting area is a small 55 mile by 70 mile rectangle, centered around Minneapolis-St. Paul.
Floyd had it coming IMHO. It’s too bad he dragged a policeman into his miserable life of drugs.
Their voting numbers make it impossible for the rest of the state to enact common sense, conservative values and remove the left tards from political office. But there are continued efforts to do so. As Winston Churchill said, "Never Give Up."
