Alabama police get revenge on high school seniors who covered HQ with toilet paper: ‘We don’t want to hear any crying’

Not getting off “Scott” free.

An Alabama police force playfully exacted revenge against a group of high schoolers who had covered their department headquarters — along with the rest of the town — with toilet paper as part of an elaborate senior prank.

Heflin Police Chief Ross McGlaughn vowed to get back on the Class of 2026 when the students launched their overnight TP attack across the small Alabama city.

The police department’s main building was dressed with rolls of toilet paper that covered the entrance, squad cars and the roof.

“It’s just fun,” the student leaders told CBS News on Friday. “Adrenaline rush. Then you don’t get caught and it’s like ‘this is fantastic.'”

Instead of arresting the underage pranksters, McGlaughn formed a special task force for an extravagant tactical operation in the small city 75 miles west of Atlanta, Georgia........

They targeted the homes of several students — with the permission of their parents......

The police boss said the main goal of his revenge was to have fun with the community, and didn’t see any harm in what the kids had done.

“As long as they’re doing this, they’re not getting in trouble doing something else,” McGlaughn told CBS News.

“I haven’t seen any type of drugs or alcohol involved, because I think they’re spending all their money on toilet paper,” he said with a laugh.

Good times! We used to have an attachment for the leaf blower that shot TP 🧻 in no time! No one thought of calling the police then.

Small towns are fun. As long as the cops have a sense of humor.

When our kids were teenagers, my wife and I lied in waiting for the TP'ers to come during homecoming week. We did that because our house is sort of built into the woods with lots of hiding places. When the TP'ers came we met them with water balloons and a water hose.

For years the teenagers (on into adult hood) would hug my wife and me and laugh about it.

To help clean up the mess, the clever high schoolers began selling TP insurance to community members and will mobilize the “Toilet Paper Rapid Response Team” to clean up the mess.

“If you buy their insurance and your yard gets rolled, the youth group will come clean it up for you,” McGlaughn said

This is a story about a suburban / rural America that is getting lost. When I was a kid in the suburbs, the cops were there to keep order but not make arrests unless they had to. If they caught a kid with beer, they’d confiscate it. If you did something stupid, they’d bring you to the station and scare you but not put you in jail or give you a record. And it worked for the most part. Maybe its inevitable, but we are losing that.

I know exactly what you mean. Back then, in a town, everyone knew everyone, and the kids knew that too. If you were doing something you shouldn’t have been doing and Mrs. Jones saw you, it was a certainty that it would make it back to your parents, and you might well get a licking or a stern talking to.

I see it as a part of the decades long Leftist assault on society. It is all about control.

Even into the 1970's at least, most LAPD cops would do that. In one instance, me and a bunch of underage friends were having a beer bust after dark in one of the local parks right outside of town and the cops kind of slipped up on us. They confiscated what was left of our case of beer, made us pour out the ones we hadn't finished on the grass, and gave us a warning, all without being condescending or jerks.

A small town of about 3500. A town of that size means everyone knows each other and some of the teens are probably relatives of some of the cops. All in good fun and no one was hurt. Kudos to the police chief and officers for making it a fun community event.
