You would think that the lighter cartridge cases would fly while the much heavier bullet would remain relatively stationary, given Newtons Laws.

I can tell you that an M79 grenade will explode twice in a fire. First the propellant charge and then later the grenade itself. My old neighbors actually did this. Found an M79 grenade in the Utah desert and then put it in their campfire. They lived.

(I have link to one surviving video with a working URL and it shows double blasts, first with boom, 2nd with whirling effect followed by huge BANG. What deflected the blast? The silo partial, the whirling pre 2nd Blast deflected the blast upward.)

There is no need to hear the timer, just be far enough away to feel the shock wave to know it went off.

Ok, not having watched the clip I would guess that it would depend on the type of ammo and the temperature you set the oven at.

I know throwing ammo on a camp fire is a bad idea. Especially when it is about a dollar a round.
