Ready for a mental workout? A Cryptogram is a classic quotation puzzle frequently featured in daily publications. I source the best and most challenging ones to help keep our minds sharp and boost cognitive health!
In a Cryptogram, a single letter always stands for another letter.
(Example: AXYDLBAAXR might translate to LONGFELLOW. This is just an example and does not apply to today’s puzzle.)
If this is your first time, don’t be intimidated—the game is very addictive, and you will quickly master the technique! If you find yourself stumped, simply take a break and return to it later.
Please follow these guidelines for the best experience for everyone:
Feel free to post a fun or clever clue—the more tangential to the quotation the better! Just remember that your clue **must not contain the actual words** of the solved quote.
Good luck, and enjoy the challenge!
Short and sweet today.

Thanks!
When am I going to convince you that, with cryptograms, short is not sweet - the short ones are the toughest. If it wasn’t for that easy first name, I wouldn’t have known where to start.
Now, if you just meant it was a sweet sentiment - I concur. :-)
I suppose the author was an optimist.
In the middle ages (?), they related the seasons to the four humors.
Spring, like blood, was hot and wet.
Summer, like choler (yellow bile), was hot and dry.
Fall, like melancholia (black bile) was cold and dry.
Winter, like phlegm, was cold and wet.
Thus fall was thought to be a melancholy time of year.
Ok, how about short and sour?
Someone complained vociferously yesterday that the Crypts were waaaay too easy, last weekend someone said the one I posted was the hardest ever post.
It’s got me so where I don’t know whether to wind my watch or make some coffee.
haters gonna hate
I, so look forward to these gems!
This is always the first thing I do once settled in on my laptop.
It never ceases to amaze (and disappoint) me to see/hear the infantile whining these daily diddies conjure up. You would think these users are paying exorbitant monthly subscription fees to access these daily mind teasers.
I appreciate your self-deprecation in response to the criticism. I hope it does not discourage.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
A very satisfied participant
Personally, I think the difficulty depends on the presence of clues that can get you started. Apostrophes near the end of a word are most often either “..n’t” contractions or “…x’s” possessives. Three letter words that repeat are often either ‘and’ or ‘the’. The same letter twice in a row can often provide clues. Common words like “people” stand out because of the unique position of the two E’s and the two P’s.
I find tat the longer the cryptogram, the more likely there will be such clues present.
I don’t think people should complain one way or the other - and I hope you don’t think I was complaining.
Ditto!!!. You all just be you. I enjoy the variety and the uniqueness of you all.
Well, and then there’s Magnum44 ... :D
