An NYPD exodus is already underway, with a surge of officers quitting in the month leading up to anti-cop socialist Zohran Mamdani’s mayoral win — and more might go if Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch exits, according to data and department sources.
The NYPD saw a 35% hike in cops of all ranks leaving in October – 245 police officers compared to 181 in the same month last year, according to Police Pension Fund data.
“Morale is down because everyone is concerned about the policies Mamdani wants to put in place,” said Detectives Endowment Association President Scott Munro.
“You have a person who is supposed to be running New York City that does not believe in law enforcement,” said Munro, a police officer for more than three decades. “What’s coming out of everyone’s mouth is, ‘We’re in trouble.'”

I’m sure there will be some replacements...of the wrong kind.
When not pressured into the only choices of immediate "fight or flight," the slower is to stroll away. With one's wallet, so often, which is why one occasionally reads some sensible editorial news about "tax base" issues. This is also why inflation is so important to governments -- plural.
The article quotes an official from the Detectives Endowment Association.
Unions have a reputation for being unreasonable. And sometimes for being outright corrupt.
But when it comes to Mamdani’s behavior as NYC mayor, look to the police unions for the unvarnished truth. That might be the only place you get it.
Oh, yeah - somebody to do maintenance on the revolving doors at all the jails.
I can see the NYC story becoming the plot for the next Purge movie. Upper West Side liberals will hire private security while crime becomes legal everywhere else.
The keffiyeh will be part of the mandatory police uniform dress code.
Cue up the “Chung Chung” sound.
Your wrong......the jail cells will have no doors.
I understand Mohamed Noor is out of prison and looking for a job in law enforcement again. He would be a great fit in Mamdani’s new NYPD. Maybe even the new commissioner, to replace PC Tisch.

Zohran is in waaaaaay over his head and the only job he ever had was working for his Mom , city counsel is not a job ,LOL
“The NYPD saw a 35% hike in cops of all ranks leaving in October...”
I was in the Army when Clinton was selected. You wouldn’t BELIEVE the number of Officers (Captains and above) and Senior NCOs (E-7 and above) that we lost during those years...and Clinton was no Mamdani!
I know - I processed dozens of Honorable Discharges myself!
Worked out well for me. Made lots of room for advancement for the right people.
HOWEVER - Mamadani will most likely use this ‘opportunity’ to fill the ranks with America Haters. :(
> somebody to do maintenance on the revolving doors at all the jails <
Mamdani has pledged to close Rikers Island, and replace it with a number of smaller jails.
Maybe those new jails won’t have any doors at all.
Book ‘em and release ‘em, Danno.
“...look to the police unions for the unvarnished truth. That might be the only place you get it.”
I posted elsewhere that the Unions ARE going to have their say about this election. And it’s happening FAST!
Funny. The corrupt Unions may be the ones that save NYC!
We shall see...
“Zohran is in waaaaaay over his head...”

Agreed....I can’t wait until he tries to tangle with the POTUS......a spanking out behind the woodshed it’ll be.
Ackbar Mamdani prepares to take reins.
Ruins ensues democrats make another notch.
What I’m thinking.
The combo of Ernest Borgnine and Adrienne Barbeau makes that movie timeless. TIMELESS, I say, LOL!
