Those houses
People in nearby neighborhoods per the news have reported finding debris with Hawaii addresses on them.
UPS under contract to deliver mailbags.
I wouldn’t want to have been in that area of the UPS building, however, it it likely the have been much more survivable as i don;t see any signs of fire. As long as you didn’t get hit with any massive steel beams, etc. it was probably survivable.
“Really odd the guy happened to be videoing the takeoff.”
No.
People including me, have phones everywhere.
Likely noticed something wrong and grabbed the phone
Yikes 😳😳😳
CLARIFICATION: The UPS MD-11 was carrying 280,000lbs of fuel — not gallons.
The Mayor of Louisville misspoke.
But 280K lbs of fuel is near full capacity for an MD-11, as the plane was en route to Hawaii.— Nick Sortor (@nicksortor) November 5, 2025
My buddy was always videoing takeoffs...I’m sure plenty of folks do this every day.
Well they would be delivering their own packages as well possibly.
I would buy 280,000 lbs. 280,000 gallons would be about 1.8 million lbs. There is no way that plane carried that much fuel.
He was sitting in a plane on the runway and phones can be turned into video cameras within a second.

Possible jet engine (left) "non-containment" failure, fragments hit fuel/oil/hydraulic line(s)?
Sad

Governor: Kentucky Petroleum Recycling and Grade A Auto Parts were two businesses hit
Prayers up for the flight crew and anyone on the ground when it occurred. Good grief...
From the takeoff video it looks like the left engine was on fire as they were trying to take off.
Sitting in the cockpit of another aircraft and seeing another traveling down the runway with smoke and or fire starting to emerge, the natural reaction for most would be to get the phone out and start recording. From that POV, s/he would have had a clear view of the unfolding disaster.
Word has it left the Left side engine cowling on the runway, suggesting a uncontained engine explosion, possibly opening a gash in the left wing tank. Also being reported on flight Aware that in addition to the three man crew they had 4 UPS employees in the deadhead seats aft of the cockpit
