Cats are awesome at mimicking humans.

I had a cat that was the neighbor’s cat, but most of this time at our house and then they moved they offered the cat to us. It was an indoor/outdoor cat outside during the day and nice weather inside in the winter and at night’s in the summer for the most part.

It would leave a dead mice by the front door, but only dead mice. They caught a rabbit, it was like a rabbit foot by the front door to let us know it caught a rabbit, but have the rest as a snack. Another one once brought me a mouse, while I was sleeping and dropped it on me. That was a nice wake up.

Our next door neighbor had such a cat inclined to gifting him with dead mice, rats, and squirrels. When our neighbor died, the cat became a stray for a year and a half before we were able to coax it indoors. Formerly near feral, he is an almost entirely indoor cat these days. At the moment he is sleeping contentedly on my bed.

Most likely. It’s doubtful a security cam would be fixed on the stove and it’s unlikely they would have just let the cat onto the stove with a dead mouse just to take a picture.

We used to try and have outside cats, but they could not survive coyotes and birds of prey. The ones that lasted a few weeks would bring us dead mice and put them on the porch for us to eat.

My cat brought me a traumatized frog one day. I praised her, and then took the poor frog, pretended to eat it, and put it in a cup and tossed it outside when my cat wasn’t looking.

But when I kept praising her and telling her how delicious the frog was, it sounded like we had a diesel engine in the house she was purring SO loudly. She was SO proud.

I did the same thing as well. They get lots of praise, even though I really didn’t want the dead animal. It’s just what they naturally do.

Oddly this is an offering by the cat to their owners. I frequently find a dead mouse on my doorstep from my cat. He is saying, “hey boss man, look what I brought you!” I praise the cat and discreetly dispose of the body. He one brought a rabbit home bigger than he, but sans head. I praised the cat and again disposed of the body.

Tbe cat thinks we are poor bunters so they bring us food as they would for their kittens.

Mice are best roiled and basted but dressing is a chore.
