The ocean is holding back a giant "burp" which scientists now say could cause the equivalent of "several centuries" of climate change

I do believe that the climate alarmists have reached the "depression" stage of grief, where they're beginning to realize that the hysteria they've built their lives around is actually rather meaningless.

Popular Mechanics reports:

The ocean is humanity's greatest ally in the fight against anthropogenic climate change. According to the United Nations, the world's oceans produce 50 percent of the oxygen we breathe, absorb around 30 percent of atmospheric carbon, and capture 90 percent of the excess heat produced by greenhouse emissions. Without the ocean, we'd be well and truly cooked.

However, the ocean's role as a carbon sink is complicated, and new research suggests that even under an ideal climate scenario — one where humanity gets its act together and creates a net-negative carbon world — heat trapped in the Southern Ocean could be "burped" up, producing anthropogenic climate change-like effects for decades or even centuries.

The ocean after climate activists spend five decades trying to convince everyone to lose their minds with panic:

You just gotta love the irony: Years and years of dogged, furious effort on the part of the Left to make climate panic happen, and yet even if we enter a "net-negative" carbon scenario, the ocean is just going to basically fart and render it all meaningless.

Indeed, the study indicates that the alleged "burp" of heat would have the same affect as, apparently, "several centuries" worth of energy-generating activity:

[The study] showed that over several centuries of cooling, an abrupt discharge of heat will increase global mean temperatures in a similar way to those experienced by humans between the post-industrial era and the (hopefully) net-negative carbon future.

Me after I spent 300 years reducing my carbon output only for the ocean to just spew it all back in my face:

Good luck with all this, climate alarmists!

Methane hydrates, ice-like deposits of water and methane gas, are stable only under conditions of high pressure and low temperature, typically found hundreds of meters below the sea surface.

The primary mechanisms that cause the release (dissociation) of methane from these deep-sea deposits are significant, long-term changes in these environmental conditions:
Warming ocean bottom water.
A significant decrease in pressure, such as due to large submarine landslides.

Physical disturbances like minor water "churning" are surface or shallow-water phenomena and do not affect the extreme pressure and temperature conditions required to keep hydrates stable in the deep ocean. The seafloor sediment itself acts as a substantial cap, preventing most methane from escaping unless the pressure and temperature conditions at the base of the hydrate stability zone are fundamentally altered.

If methane is released, it often dissolves in the water column or is consumed by microbes before reaching the atmosphere, mitigating its immediate climate impact, though the potential for massive releases over geological timescales remains a subject of scientific study.

So, it's actual a methane fart ...

No it isn't. The global warming hoaxters have tried before to revive the "excess heat is hidden in the depths of the ocean" nonsense, which they'd invented as an alibi for why their model is always wrong. This won't stop until they start to die off.

I believe that. We had a foot of snow on the Gulf Coast for the first time in recorded history, which granted isn’t very long. I have lived in Florida and The South for all my life, except during my stint in the Marines, and never seen such a thing!

...CO2 bonds with water...

Technically CO2 dissolves in water. It returns to a gas state when the pressure above the water is low and any disturbance occurs. The disturbance of shaking is actually applies a tiny increase in temperature.

Been Gate’s plan for decades, as well as the Eugenics crowd. The theory is that if you murder 7 billion folks, then the earth would be in balance. Of course he would be one of the survivors. 7 billion people is a lot of carbon.

So now we have a plot for ONE MORE Mission Impossible movie: agent Hunt has to stop terrorists from setting off a nuclear weapon on the floor of the ocean to prevent ‘a great burp’ of heat that will destroy all life on earth. (Claiming the rights to this preposterous story for myself!)

You're probably right - that said if we defund these crazies at least they'll lose an incentive to keep talking up this crap.
