Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Saw two more blossoms on the indoor tomato plant this morning, in addition to what was already there a couple of days ago. Can’t believe my luck. One blossom does look “shriveled”, though, and I can’t tell if it’s getting ready to drop off dead, or if it’s going to become a fruit.

I also can’t believe I’ve turned so fast from a big ugly Neanderthal into someone who tends to tomato plants with all the care of Florence Nightingale. Heh. :-)

Plants will do that to a person! :)

Here’s an Author you might like to read this winter. I love her books! Amy Stewart.

My fave was ‘Flower Confidential.’

Back from a lovely two hour Thanksgiving meal. There were 8 of us. First Thanksgiving meal in about 40 years where I did not have to cook, set up clean up. My friends were wonderful hosts. Beautiful room set up with candles good turkey dinner lovely table set up even name tags. The strudel turned out to be the only dessert and it was scarfed up and raved over. It was my serbian grandmothers recipe. I used honeycrisp apples. I left 2 pieces behind. And I brought simple steamed broccoli. I like it still on the green side but steamed, tossed with butter, salt, pepper and topped with some parmesan. Its been over 6 months since hubby passed and I have not been social at all, just FR and church and a veterans dinner a few weeks ago. I felt comfortable in my own skin. Still not all the way back but better. 0_02_01_89c704198019464123b4c23f566a0672f2b8283e4f3c2856e90bf2626696aa17_82cefbafc36e0847

Tell me about it. I went from “an 8-12 lb turkey is just too much” to getting a 10 lb leg. Use up leftovers? Heat and eat.

Extenuating circumstances however made a short trip into a long one so once I got to the grocery store, I wasn’t leaving without a leg. Even had to hail the meat dept guy to ask if they had them because there were none in the display case. He went up front and grabbed a box of them that has showed up an hour earlier and started yanking out these huge legs. Still, I wasn’t leaving without a leg.

They were priced at $6.99 but he knocked a buck off because “I’m never gonna move these”. Yeah, 10 lbs at $5-6/lb is $50-60 compared to a $15-20 turkey.

Little tricky to carve cross-grain but OMG, tender and yummy.

Single bone - easy to separate meat and put into containers, some to be frozen. I’ve got foil I used to cover the leg as it rested. I can wrap that bone in it and freeze it as well until I figure out what to do with it. A hack saw style bone saw is pretty cheap. Lamb/Mutton stock.

I’ll be looking at these meat goats in a new way.

Time for another helping.

“Winter Storm BEAU is coming on Saturday, just a few days after Winter Storm Aurora...”

Well, we’re screwed, LOL! Actually, this is ALL THE WAY across the state from us; we’re in the SW corner of WI - nearer the Mighty Mississippi than big old Lake Michigan. Haven’t read ALL the reports, so WE may get this first, then it moves EAST and with the lake effect snow, it could end up being a WHOPPER for dem over der, Ya Hey! ;) (We DO sport an amusing accent up here...)

“(WLUK) — Our second named winter storm is coming this weekend, just a few days after our first named winter storm of the season.

Winter Storm BEAU will drop 4-7 inches of snow across much of Northeast Wisconsin Saturday with the majority of it coming in the evening and through the overnight.

A Winter Storm Watch is in place for most of the area Saturday.

There will be some higher amounts, possibly between 7 and 10 inches in the southern Lakeshore counties and far southern parts of the area. Specifically in Manitowoc, Kewaunee, Sheboygan, and Fond du Lac counties. The relatively warm waters of Lake Michigan will enhance the snowfall in these locations and lead to higher snow totals.

The snow begins Saturday morning in the southern parts of the area and spreads northward midday Saturday.”

P.S. STOP NAMING SNOWSTORMS! Just. Stop. Yeesh!

Thanks. What I really like is making that strudel with farmers fresh cheese mixed with eggs, sugar, a little lemon. But apple sounded better to them.

Lamb and cabbage soup is a great way to use up lamb leftovers. Set any meat aside, start with a quart of beef broth, cook the bone in it a long time, remove, add some thin sliced sweet onion, chopped in chunky pieces green cabbage. When tender, add whatever lamb you want cut into spoonable pieces. Serve.
