Rand Paul: Bomb first, ask questions “never” makes zero constitutional sense
X ^ | Oct 28 | Senator Rand Paul

Posted on 10/28/2025 6:26:25 AM PDT by RandFan

@SenRandPaul

Bomb first, ask questions “never” makes zero constitutional sense and even less practical sense. I still have questions about the survivors from Ecuador and Colombia. Either they’re drug traffickers, in which case they should be tried and locked up, or they’re not. It shouldn’t surprise anyone that people who value the Constitution and due process are skeptical.

They are literally pirates, and this has always been the risk of piracy. This is a practice that is as old as trade by boat

they SHOULD be returned to the country of origin, to be tried there.

And if the country of origin is an enemy, anarchy, or outlaw?

I doubt we returned pirates to Algeria.

You, Rand Paul...

There is no way he is stupid enough to believe we don’t have tons of intelligence assets in the Southern Hemisphere. We know where the boats supplies come from, when they are loaded and by which group. And he even believes fishing boats are designed to go 80 miles an hour and fish nowhere near the coast of their country.

Because piracy cannot always be linked to a specific state actor. As such operations on the high seas are a little more flexible.

I’ve noticed remarks every now and then about who can post the fastest. I never understood this. It’s like there’s some sort of competition going on.

And some posts are so full of typos and gibberish it suggests they do not proof read or spell check in an effort to get theirs posted first.

And I must add, afpsgj”xg bsa[ zsd vc.

The US Constitution is for US Citizens. PERIOD.

My Canadian wife has a valid green card. She is afford the right to keep and bear arms and free speech. She also knows that she is still (after 28 years) a guest, and has to remain on good behavior to avoid being sent . . . alone, to Carnistan.

I have to confess that I’m disappointed that there ARE survivors.

Because he’s not wrong.

However, he is fighting a battle that is bigger than just these actions.

Trump is using the same laws and procedures to go after the drug runners that the US used to go after terrorists

Rand has argued against this as well. Rand is being consistent. Whether you agree with him or not, he is being intellectually consistent.

The 2001 law granted the President Authorized Use of Military Force against terrorist organizations. This law has no sunset provision and basically says the commander and chief can strike terrorists wherever and whenever they see fit.

Once Trump declared the drug cartels terrorist organizations, this gave him virtual Carte Blanche authority to do what he is doing.

They’re sending home “survivors”. It does not make sense to me

What do you suppose they tell their comrades?

Yes a naturalized citizen is not the same as a green card.

Weird huh? What’s that about?

The survivors tell the tale of what awaits if they put to sea in drug boats.

Psyop imo.

There is the so called law of high seas.
BTW not signed by the US.
This law is attempting to transfer habeas corpus and fair trial rules to international waters, which do not belong to anybody.

The law stipulates that pirates, drug runners and slave trades have right to full judicial proceedings.

So blasting boats is not legal, as these people should be brought to court.
They should be boarded, searched, and arrested.
But they could NOT be tried by the arresting country.

Let say, there is a country where slavery is legal (Mauritania?).
So even if we board and search slavery boat, we cannot judge these people, because they may be legal, if they are from that country.
So all we can do is sent the the slave runners (and the slaves too?) too their home county, with documentation, so they could get fair trial according to their country laws!

Yes, it makes no sense! That why US does not signed it, ever!
But that’s the law Rand is defending!

Stop them with what exactly?

The reason these boats have three to four two hundred plus horsepower engines on the back is to OUTRUN the US Navy and Coast Guard.
We could catch up to them with a helicopter, but then what do you do?

What is the top speed of out fastest Coast Guard cutter?

Never underestimate the depths of his stupidity. I’m not 100 percent sure he can read at an adult level. We as a society need to stop elevating these nepo babies. His father was a great intellectual, so I don’t know what happened.

You can still capture them and bring them to land and a US judge.

Yeah correct, criminals in international waters should see a Biden judge.

Paulista logic.

Declaration of war is less than useless. Wars are against Nations / States. History is full of examples of naval powers having sanction to police the seas, as well as empowering private citizens to do so as well. The privateers that were empowered to go after pirates, all the navies that would go after pirates ... british and american did this in colonial times. Even the Marine Corp song references it. The shores of Tripoli references a Marine assault on the Barbary Pirates. We never declared war on them. When we go against a Somali pirate, we are not declaring war on Somalia.

I would proffer that drug dealers and terrorists are more dangerous than pirates. They are invading our country, killing and poisoning our people. Interdicting them at sea is the safest and most effective means of defense. Do they deserve to be arrested or put on trial. No ... they are not even in US waters yet. The whole point is that they are heading to the US, but not under the jurisdiction of law enforcement, so no need to capture, imprison, clog up the courts, etc. Kill’em on the way in, while in international waters, and if there are any survivors, sent them home.

Finally, the act of sending them home is itself an effective strategy. Sun Tzu said so in the Art of War. When a soldier is killed on the battlefield, people mourn, but eventually forget or ignore. A dead soldier is a hero. When an injured soldier returns from war, they are a constant reminder of the horrors of war. Physical injuries, and even psychological injuries, give their families reason to question if it was worth it. Was smuggling coke into the US a good reason to get your arm blown off? Future recruits also see this and see what can happen to them.

You can’t “ask questions” of, or seek a search warrant for, heavily armed thugs speeding as fast as they can with their illegal cargo. These aren’t container ships that are suspected of carrying drugs in some hidden compartments. We are in an undeclared war with these organizations and the governments that are enabling them.

During WWII, decoded radio intercepts revealed a top Japanese commander was aboard a flight near Bougainville Island. US fighter plots targeted the plane and shot it down, killing Admiral Yamamoto, the architect of the Pearl Harbor attack.

Does Rand Paul think targeting Yamamoto was wrong and illegal without “due process” in advance?

Takes way too long. Not use missiles however— these are making the point of big bangs and blow ups.

The choppers going over can destroy the outboards, and sink the runners by shooting out the waterline. Takes longer though and is much cheaper. If these people don’t have flotation devices that’s their worry. And, of course there are sharks.

De-employing the runners discourages, maybe the many other dopers who will get paid large (on their economy level)to take the risk. So, death is a risk.

US is under no, zero obligation to and int’l law when it comes to the terroristic threat of these mass drug narcos. None.

Anyone complaining as to “how do we know” is trying for find out who is spilling the intel for the runs. We are talking about tons of cocaine, no matter where produced (as in Colombia, Peru... etc.) Venezuela is propping up their loser Marxist paradise by running dope. These operations are directed ultimately at the Red Chinese who bank them, and also send the fentanyl components to the Cartels inside Mexico for their distribution.

A daisy chain of bad actors being shut down by-— missiles. It works.
