He's pushing for country of origin labels with a new bill
This sounds like a RandFan, Rand Paul, and Assie sort of logic.
Absolutely. Country of origin needs to be listed on the product.
Country of origin labels on meat was voted down about 10 years ago. Very heavy opposition from both sides.
Better than no beef...cuz I can't afford it.
I believe Australian Beef is even better.
.

I dunno about all of that, but a quick Google search reveals that most of our imported beef come from Brazil, with Australia taking up a close second. Argentina is close to the bottom of the list of countries that export beef to the US. Even with the increased Argentinian imports, Argentina is still close to the bottom.
One thing I learned by going to microbiology conferences is that any foreign country that wants to export food items to the US has to meet US standards. That means that the USDA goes to inspect foreign facilities. And foreign food producers who go to the trouble of upgrading to meet US standards are rewarded by getting higher prices for their goods.
Tell Massie the no labels is part of the NAFTA agreement so Congress will have to renegotiate the treaty. Those fools are responsible for this mess. We don’t buy any food unless its labeled.
This ahole suddenly cares about American Farmers after voting against them for years.
Back in the 80’s....
Macdonald’s imported beef from Argentina, they still might. A lot of beef. Oddly enough it came from from one gigantic rancho. Guess who owned it?
A Rockefeller.
One wonders why he waited so long to do this...
COOL for beef and pork was ended in 2016.
Has the cat had his tongue til now?
so the no government interference guy is calling for new government labeling regulations?
Typical DC hypocrite
Since Covid most of our grocery stores no longer have a butcher on site.
Meat comes prepackaged from a distributor.
Quality of beef and pork has declined.
I don’t trust the government at all on this and wonder if some meat comes from China - or other countries that have lax environmental and food safety laws.
