Innovation & design for greater acceptance of grid expansion
Austrian Power Giants ^ | October 24, 2025 | Staff

So far, classic new pylon designs have not had the desired positive effect on public acceptance.

The Austrian Power Giants combine innovative pylon design with aspects of nature in the form of animals in order to harmonize electricity infrastructure with nature.

In this overall concept, an Austrian Power Giant is to be designed for each of the 9 federal states in Austria in the form of an animal that matches the respective federal state.

For example, due to the annual visits of storks to Burgenland, the stork was chosen as the symbolic animal of this federal state. Or the deer, fitting for the densely wooded Alpine foothills of Lower Austria.

Two of these Austrian Power Giants were designed in the shape of a stork and a deer and pre-tested for structural and electrical engineering to ensure technical feasibility.

This nature-inspired design is ultimately intended to become a symbol for nature-friendly infrastructure projects, strengthen the economic and tourism location in the regions and ultimately lead to increased acceptance of grid expansion projects by the general public.

The Austrian Power Giants concept has also been well received by the international design community. A high-calibre international jury honoured this concept in Singapore and awarded it the Red Dot Award 2025 for concept design in the electrification and decarbonisation category. The miniature models of the Austrian Power Giants will be on display to the general public at the Red Dot Museum in Singapore until October 2026, where they can be viewed in more detail.

Of course. Mega-solarwindfarms require new tranmission lines (that would not be necessary if relying on existing fossil-fueled plants with lines already in place). So gaslight the populus with tranny towers in the shape of animals! How IN-CHARACTER with the Yurpean Greens!

Not sure if it’s a good idea, given their ongoing transition to Sharia Rule, to be putting up gay power line towers.

Waste of steel, zinc (extra galvanizing surface area) and energy.

It would be really expensive to make all the pylons like deer.

And spooky. A line of 300 foot tall grid deer marching to the horizon.

What good does one do? People will say, I like this power line, there’s a giant deer in it a three hour drive away?

Or is it one deer every ten miles?

Inquiring minds want to know but not enough to read the article.
