A “very significant” unpublished story by Jack Kerouac described as “a lost chapter of the On the Road saga” has been discovered after languishing in the files of an assassinated Mafia crime boss for at least 40 years.

Huge Jack fan originally from CT but now in Japan . Have read all his books , have the CD box collection of his recordings , etc...Went to his grave in Lowell , MA one time when visiting from Japan . Have read a lot of Burroughs , too , Ginsberg a bit and books by other characters like Huncke , etc...My fave writer bar none is Mr. Kerouac . I know a young woman in Kyoto Japan who is also a big Jack K. fan . I gave her a bunch of my English paperbacks a few years ago .

We have that Beat Generation interest in common. I should visit that grave (there’s a video of Bob Dylan and Allen Ginsberg there during the Rolling Thunder tour days). Met Ginsberg when he visited Detroit a couple of times. Gave a poetry reading to maybe 50 of us college students once.
Jack died in his mom’s house while watching TV, I believe.
Who was the mobster? I’ve used up my freebies on the Guardian site and won’t pay anything to those pinkos.
It’s funny. I have Kerouac’s most famous book, sonewhere among my books, but I can honestly say I merely browsed through it one time and that was all. Some years back when I was trimming my collection of books, I ran across it, saved it again, but still have not read it.
Jack died in hospital from an internal hemorrhage caused by cirrhosis .
I highly recommend this if you don’t already have it . I bought the hardcover when it was first published .
