X-linked Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease after SARS-CoV-2 vaccination mimicked stroke-like episodes: A case report

Abstract

BACKGROUND

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) vaccinations have been administered worldwide, with occasional reports of associated neurological complications. Specifically, the impact of vaccinations on individuals with X-linked Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 1 (CMTX1) is unclear. Patients with CMTX1 can have stroke-like episodes with posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), although this is rare.

CASE SUMMARY

A 39-year-old man was admitted with episodic aphasia and dysphagia for 2 d. He received SARS-CoV-2 vaccination 39 d before admission. Physical examination showed pes cavus and reduced tendon reflexes. Brain MRI showed bilateral, symmetrical, restricted diffusion with T2 hyperintensities in the cerebral hemispheres. Nerve conduction studies revealed peripheral nerve damage. He was diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, and a hemizygous mutation in the GJB1 gene on the X chromosome, known to be pathogenic for CMTX1, was identified. Initially, we suspected transient ischemic attack or demyelinating leukoencephalopathy. We initiated treatment with antithrombotic therapy and immunotherapy. At 1.5 mo after discharge, brain MRI showed complete resolution of lesions, with no recurrence.

CONCLUSION

SARS-CoV-2 vaccination could be a predisposing factor for CMTX1 and trigger a sudden presentation.

It’s sad that people believed the government when they were told that a new type of totally untested “vaccine” was safe and effective when it was neither.

BTW, 911 Nashville is a crappy show with horribly unbelievable special effects like the 10 year old girl who gets lifted off the ground by a small kite and just dangles there for five minutes in the same spot. Pure crap.

P.S. The only reason I watched it is because I know Leann Rimes’ daddy, Wilbur, and I thought that as he owns a tow truck service, he might appear in an episode at an automobile accident scene.

Singer Alan Jackson also has Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT).

Inherited neuropathy related disease. Rough deal.

From another article:
“In 2022, Tate shared that she was diagnosed with a progressive neuromuscular disease at the age of 13.”

Do you have any evidence this lady was COVID vaccinated?
Or, is this more unjustified speculation on your part?

Charcot-Marie-Tooth is genetic. Too bad for this lovely girl, she had the bad luck to be born with this embedded.

In case anyone is wondering, it doesn’t have anything to do with teeth. Tooth was the name of one of the people who discovered it.

I was on vacation with my family years ago. I went for a long walk with my two sons. My younger son is the more athletic of the two, but he couldn’t keep up with us.

Then I noticed he was wearing his older brother’s shoes. They were much too large for him. He said his feet were hurting.

I looked at his feet, and they were curled up like two fists. He was walking on the sides of his fist-like feet.

I took him to the doctors. They diagnosed Charcot-Marie Tooth. We were told it is endemic to North Carolina.

He had to have all the bones in his feet removed and reshaped. It was an extremely painful recovery.

He is OK now. But any injuries to his feet cause him problems.

“The name “Charcot-Marie-Tooth” has nothing to do with teeth; it is a misnomer. The name comes from the three physicians who first described the disease in 1886: Jean-Martin Charcot, Pierre Marie, and Howard Henry Tooth”
