Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that Russia belongs among the ranks of self-respecting nations and will not act under external pressure, responding to new US sanctions and Western efforts to isolate Moscow.

According to Putin, Russia did not lose to Japan in 1905. Nor to Germany in 1918. Nor to Poland in 1921. Nor to Afghanistan in 1989. Russia, with no help from U.S., defeated Germany during WWII. And any time Russia wants, it can defeat Ukraine and all its NATO allies.

As to Sergei, I adore the Prelude is C sharp minor, and those marvelous piano concerti. Did you know that "Russian" Sergei lived in Beverly Hills, and died there? And that he is buried in the Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, New York?
