Seven US lawmakers, including both Democrats and Republicans, have written to President Donald Trump and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, urging them to withdraw the $100,000 fee on H-1B visas. They warned that the recent changes could harm the country’s innovation-driven economy and weaken its global competitiveness.
In a joint statement, they said that while the H-1B visa system needs reform to better align with American values and workforce needs, the new rules — particularly the $100,000 annual fee — will make it difficult for many employers to hire and retain skilled foreign workers.
The letter was signed by Suhas Subramanyam, the son of Indian immigrant parents, along with several other members of the US Congress, including Sam T Liccardo, Jay Obernolte, María Elvira Salazar, Don Bacon, and Greg Stanton.

All Deep State.
“You know what doesn’t hurt startups - hiring AMERICAN workers! Most of these startups are probably nothing more than schemes set up by the left to bring in more invaders. They’re trying every trick in the book to get rid of white people of European descent, and they can’t do that without importing hordes of invaders first.”
Well said.
None. I deal with outsourced engineering routinely.
They suck.
They are cheap enough their mistakes can be fixed profitably.
But they will be the ones replaced by AI. They are intelligent monkeys, aping real engineers.
If the startups need foreign workers to succeed, they should move to those countries and open the startup. They never will.

535 - 7 = 528
528 US lawmakers, including both Democrats and Republicans, DIDN'T write to POTUS. The majority wins...if it's "our democracy".
...could...
A word that magically transforms itself into 'would' at the hands of seven US lawmakers.
The 7 are stalking horses for more traitors in Congress.
I do not believe that foreign workers are ‘better’ than domestic, American workers...even in STEM occupations. The only reason for US companies to continue ringing this bell is their never-ending quest for cheaper labor.
Make sure the foreign folks cost just as much as domestic folks. Keep the playing field closer to level.
Make that fee $150k, or even $200k...
So then Congress should do it’s job, pass the reform and then the fee can be addressed. Until then keep it in place.
Our economy is built on cheaper labor. If you truly want more expensive labor, stop buying goods and services that are use cheap labor... Know why you can’t find many? It’s because the economy sustains cheap labor. Why pay an American $30 to build a widget when I can pay a foreigner $3?
So what these “lawmakers” are saying is that the United States does NOT have highly skilled workers....
Nebraska’s Don Bacon still bringing home the pork.
Watch congress turn the “H1B” bill into an “amnesty for all illegals” bill by the time all the special interests weigh in.
Correct, a startup is looking first for someone with integrity and can be trusted as well someone with experience and who can move quickly, without supervision. They’ll pay a premium for these traits, but often n the form of stock options etc.
C’mon, TexasGunLover. We aren’t talking about $3 per hour labor, here.
We are talking about (generally) highly educated people who find focus in technology industries, cutting-edge engineering firms, and so forth.
If our economy were truly built solely on ‘cheaper labor’, our goods would look like the stuff coming out of 1950’s Japan.
My observation is that American engineers, for example, are as talented as foreign engineers and American firms should look first to domestic resources rather than foreign.
One way to do that is to level the p(l)aying field. Now, if your issue is solely cost, why aren’t you railing against the ridiculous cost of a sound college education in the US?
During the 1990’s, and throughout this century, globalist politicians, academics, government bureaucrats, and corporate CEO’s have profited greatly by the offshoring of entire industries and millions of middle class American jobs. It is ironic their answer for displaced worker was usually “learn to code”. At the same time they were facilitating the importing of tech workers to fill those coding jobs.
“Seven US lawmakers, including both Democrats and Republicans, have written to President Donald Trump and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, urging them to withdraw the $100,000 fee on H-1B visas.”
Withdraw the fee along with the H1B visa program. MAGA for American engineers!
“US Lawmakers” putting foreign nationals first again. Screw the Americans.
Start ups have plenty of talent at hand, you can still hire an Indian, he just has to stay in India, they don’t have to be in the US to write code!
