I know Wyoming is a beautiful state, but I just don't think I could live in an area where a walk in the woods could result in a grizzly attack.

I was hiking in Yellowstone, turned a corner and was standing 20ft from a 1200lb bison.
We backed up really slowly!

The grizzly met a grizzly end because he needed killin’. And it sounds like it happened in Idaho. Island Park is a half mile or so wide and 20 miles or more long on both sides of the highway between Yellowstone and Sugar City.

I absolutely hate the idea of killing bears. Pople could and should carry Bear Spray with them in those areas.

I have been to Glacier and Yellowstone areas about 10 times.
I’ve encountered Griz 8 of those times, anywhere from 50 feet to 1/4 mile.
I now carry a .357 with Buffalo Bore Hardcast, and can hit what I’m aiming for at 25 yards 4 out of 6 times while under great stress.
I might make it ….

Archery hunters shot and killed grizzlies in self-defense in the Island Park region
If an archer shot and killed a grizzly bear with a bow and arrow, then that would really be impressive.

A Montanan told me just last week that all you need is a slow buddy and a pocketknife to survive a grizzly attack

Meanwhile, grizzlies are in hyperphagia this time of year, she said. That’s essentially a pig-out mode, during which they gorge on up to 20,000 calories a day, trying to pile on fat for winter hibernation.
C'mon! Grizzleys gotta eat, too.
