HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A Hamden homeowner whose Halloween display has been called offensive by some community members said he will not take it down despite pushback from the mayor and the local NAACP chapter.
Eric Andrewsen said he always wanted to be the one to deliver an experience when it comes to decorating for Halloween. For close to a decade, he has been displaying over-the-top decorations in his front lawn, often drawing in hundreds of trick-or-treaters as a result.

Ridiculous
Lots of other people have been hung. This is absurd.
BlackElk’s (RIP) hometown.
My guess is that a handful of malcontents are complaining. Over-the-top Halloween decorations have never been that big a deal in Connecticut. Hamden is left of Wallingford and Cheshire, but right of New Haven.
These people need to grow up. It will never happen because their life is playing the victim.
Halloween is not for decorations with bunnies and flowers.
No, no, no, only black people have been hanged, no whites, no Asians, no Jews, only Black people............or so they would have you believe............

Dey said that you was hung.
And dey was right!
I don’t do decorations for most holidays. Some white lights and a wreath on the front door at Christmas is about it. Elaborate displays once were the exception but it’s almost a norm for some these days.
UNless hanging effigies of Trump, Bush, Sarah Palin, Romney, McCain, and any other republican is fine.
Amazon Prime has that movie out now. Finally streaming. Make sure to back it up on a hard drive. I haven’t watched yet so I don’t know if it has the deleted scenes which are hilarious.
I saw the barbed wire and thought concentration camps.
I am done with Halloween. Lights out. Too much gore and horror, too much commercialism.
Parents take innocents around, too much what’s that? That you don’t want to explain.
People need to relax.
I never really got into “decorating” for Halloween, but some folks do. We have a street in our town that goes all out, and they have been doing so for more than 30 years. People moving onto that street are brought into the fold pretty quickly. (I think the grown up beverages have something to do with it!)
This guy’s display is a bit over the top. But if you are seeing “Jim Crow” in it, I would suggest you are looking for Jim Crow. The Holocaust overtones are pretty clear—and would not go over well in my town. But no one would make him take it down.
I wish I could work up enough energy to go around hoping to be offended. It seems to be all the rage these days.
Pictures are hung. People are hanged.
Unless you are a porn star. But that is an entirely different context.
Actually, I was a porn star.
I still remember my line. “Honey, I have to go to work. Will you let the plumber in?”
“hanging dummies and barbed wire”
“Jim Crow” is the last thing I would think of, seeing that display. In fact, I wouldn’t even think it at all. The association seems forced.
I think the worries over Jim Crow are stupid, but I don’t like having so much barbed wire in a neighborhood where children aren’t used to it. But that’s not a legal reason to force him to take it down. OTOH, he might want to consider liability.
It is creepy looking.
Hanged
Exactly.
There’s a difference between fun and spooky, and the twisted sick stuff that way too many people think is acceptable.
Not to mention too many adult-aged persons that should mature into actual adults.
