When the cops show up on the door step for a “knock and talk”, don’t say anything more than, “Go away. I assert my right to remain silent”. Recording that is advisable, and better not to open the door. It’s better to have a lawyer deliver the message, but much more expensive.
This happened in the man’s lawn and they came with Officer Cujo, who bit the man.
Pathetic. Looks like it could have been handled by one guy with some balls.

It’s Florida. Homeowner might be armed, hence the backup.
There is backup, then there is over kill. He showed the officers that he was unarmed. this was uncalled for.
When I was living in Lakeland Florida a couple of decades ago I had the cops show up in force at my house at 8:00 in the evening and treat me like shit because somebody they had arrested who gave them a false name and my address had skipped out on bail. Now first off we have the problem that they’re so damn lazy and stupid they don’t verify the name or the address of the person they arrested. Then they come to my house and treat me like a criminal when I have a clean record and own that house for 20 years. They essentially claimed that the criminal told the truth and that I was a liar. So as far as I’m concerned the police burned that bridge with me.

I may be dealing with a similar situation right now, because it appears that a criminal in Austin is using my name and address.
I am, very reluctantly, starting to think that the police have too much money and too much time on their hands.

A common technique for cops is to put a foot in the open door. Then when the homeowner tries to close the door, the door touches the cop’s foot.
Then it’s assault on a police officer.
“It’s Florida. Homeowner might be armed, hence the backup.”
What’s Florida got to do with it? That could be any state USA where homeowner’s have firearms.
The ONLY pretext to that use of force was alcohol and a firearm in the complaint. Didn’t watch it all, but if they let the dog bite him, that would seem well beyond the pale.
Also. thanks to Biden, there are millions of desperate illegals in our country and our police are the front line for any and ALL of that garbage.
I think sometimes cops just break out all their gear because they want to use it.

I found it stunning that the police apparently take the criminal’s word for name and address without verification and then take a piss on the homeowner (me)
Even more infuriating was that the lead was a female cop who wanted to prove she had bigger balls than I did. I was very cooperative and she was snide and insulting all the way through, even as she and her partner walked back to the car.
As I said LE burned that bridge with me. Next time they bring a warrant or they get the hell off my property.
