LOS ANGELES — Mitt Romney’s brother filed for divorce just four months before his estranged wife plunged to her death from a California parking garage – and tried to make sure courts awarded her nothing in the split, according to documents.
George Scott Romney, 81, filed the case against 64-year-old Carrie Elizabeth Romney on June 12, citing “irreconcilable differences,” according to court documents obtained by The Post.
Despite being married more than eight years, starting in 2016, he said that they had no shared property that needed to be divided by the courts.
Romney also sought to “terminate the court’s ability to award support” to either person, court documents show, suggesting he wanted to make sure the courts didn’t step in and give his wife any assets.
Other documents from the split – filed by Romney as the petitioner – noted that both parties had agreed to “mediate property and support.”
Carrie, however, filed documents requesting spousal support.
She has had an unsteady history with money, notably filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2001 with a former husband.
Carrie’s body was found at the base of a Valencia parking garage on Friday evening night.
It remains unclear whether she fell or if she jumped.

I have no idea about his brother and his relationships, so I cant hold it over his head how much his brother is an ungrateful sell out of the American people.

I am a little bit familiar with the Valencia area. Not sure which garage it was. If it was the one at the mall near the fancy restaurants, those walls are about 4 feet high and 2 feet thick. On a Friday “evening night” (sic) lots of people get boozed up at those places. I’ve been to a few - not too many - Friday nights around there. Rumor is the bars (inside the fancy restaurants) are hookup and swinger places. It’s a bedroom community.
Of course maybe she was just shopping at Macy’s and tripped. Valencia is fairly modern, I’d be surprised if there isn’t some security footage. Maybe not of the incident but definitely comings and goings.
Or maybe it was an entirely different place. But there aren’t a lot of parking garages Valencia is sprawl and most commercial developments have acres and acres of flat lot parking. Really only the mall has a multi-story garage that I can think of. 2 of them. And only one on side of the mall. The other side of the mall has 8000 parking spaces sprawled out.
Maybe one of the hotels has a parking garage. Or the trade/technical schools.
