I can believe it. I have single handed “walked” things like a very large refrigerator-freezer, so I can imagine a team walking the moi, with bracing around them, with four to six points around the bracing where men can lift.

Wouldn’t it have been easier to walk the block and then carve it?
I think it was a defense device. From long distance at sea it would look like an army.
China made hundreds of statues in formation of men that would look like an army from Mike’s away and above.

Thor Heyerdahl asked the descendants of the LongEars how it was done, and they did the demo for him. They showed how the carving tools were made and kept sharp, how the statues were moved, and they restored the topknot on a statue. Now there's a bunch of 'em, but at the time, it was the only restored statue.

One of the History shows to already feature this idea was
History’s Greatest Mysteries, Season 6, Episode 19:
The Secrets of Easter Island
First shown on Aug 11, 2025.
Like many Ancient Aliens shows, how does the “real world” expect to get away with the “new” ideas like this?
Someday: Scientific American original finding “There are flying saucers in the skies. Harvard professor has proof.”

The Moai statues still have many mysteries. Some have writing on the backs of them. Done in the Rongo-rongo script we can not, as yet, read. Those inscriptions may well answer many questions.

Kidding, as they couldn’t read or write.
True—
Māori language had no written form before European contact; instead, important information was passed down through oral traditions, memorized rhymes, formulaic storytelling and other methods like carving and weaving. A written version using the Latin alphabet was developed around 1820 with the help of missionaries.

That reminds me of a picture floating around that shows a cholo-looking dude with an oversize t-shirt and very low jeans.
Someone sketched in a skeletal structure that showed a very long torso and stubby legs.
