Well I’m relieved to note that we abstain from most of that list except for canned soup which for some reason we only eat in the winter and the occasional Popeyes chicken and once in a blue moon a flavored coffee creamer. Most of the soup we buy is low sodium anyway.
Far too much “wokeness” and attitude in younger doctors. Doesn’t seem like we’re even on the same planet half the time. I even had one tell me I’d have to quit smoking my pipe for a year before he’d do a procedure on me! I don’t trust my health to someone who doesn’t have a clue about WW2, the Cold War, Berlin Wall, etc. Unfortunately all but one (happily the best and my age) of my old school docs have retired or passed and there is simply no substitute for experience.
Hmmm... Thanks. I didn’t know there was s difference. A couple years ago I did keto for 6 months and lost about 30 pounds. I did it to lower the glucose number on my blood panel. Surprisingly, it decreased, but very little — only about 2 points.
Ate meat, poultry, cheese, eggs, fish, veggies, carb-balance tortillas, keto bread (gross).
No sugar, pasta, rice, bananas, potatoes 😢, soda of any kind.
I should start it again ‘cause I felt so good on it. If it were just me it would be easy, but there are two of us.
7.5 out of 9. Not too bad I reckon
Johnny Carson
“... there are nine American foods you couldn’t pay me to eat.”
My G-d, what’s left - cannibalism?
The soda can contribute to liver disease also.
Lunch meat, I stopped eating them a couple of years ago, all kinds of preservatives. I now use chicken or tuna salads. I love sausage and brats, just go to a meat market where it is made in house.
I didn’t have a lot of luck the first time. But I recently started again and I am down 10 lbs and my A1C dropped. I am doing things differently this time around, I am using an app which helps me really keep track of the carbs. There were a lot of “hidden” carbs I wasn’t aware of. The packaging says “zero” carbs but 2-3 servings will add up, lol.
I gave up the low carb breads that are supposedly lower in carbs but they stall my progress. Same with fruit and certain veggies (carrots).
The hardest thing for me on keto is to eat enough fat, lol. So I am adding butter to my eggs and heavy cream to my coffee. When I upped my fats, my weight loss increased 👍
7. Highly processed plant-based 'meats'
9. Flavored coffee creamers
Yeah, fake butter is garbage poison. I only use real butter. And I like butter so I spring for the good stuff.
I'd never touch this plant-based meat. He's right about that.
Most of the flavored coffee creamers are again, non-dairy and made out of processed soybean oil. Starbucks makes a decent creamer though, made from real cream and natural flavors. It's priced accordingly but at only a buck or so more than the fake stuff, I find it worth the extra expense.
Definitely butter. Every morning I have two eggs with cheese fried with real butter on a carb balanced tortilla. Maybe I’ll just eliminate the tortilla.
I used to buy the 93% lean ground beef, but now go for the 80%. And more fast tastes better.
The carb friendly ice cream is 🤮.
For me, it was surprisingly easy the first time, but now it’s more of a struggle.
Yes - carrots are loaded with sugar. Same for bananas. I assumed beans would be good but they’re not.
Johnny was humorous.
I know ... it’s like reading the label on ranch dressing.
Sigh.
Are you saying God doesn’t know what he’s doing? He’s the one who created, and he knows what’s good for food and what isn’t (regardimg Jewish prohibitions).
Plant based foods are mostly soy. Yuck.
Trader Joe's has a Japanese-style snack food offering that looks like a savory mix but in reality is as sugary as Cap'n Crunch cereal.
Dr William Davis...did you make his Reuteri bacteria yogurt?
That was because they made them without modern preservatives. The food industry is killing us.
Yes!!
Delicious.
Ah ha. Thanks.
Very good. Thanks for the clip.
