Water meters on every room next.
++++++++++
I ran into this in the 1980’s in Vermont.
I watch a lot of Brit shows. there are quite a few that show those meters that you have to put coins in to get heat. I dont know if they still do that over there
Those with the ability to read have the duty to read.
I love that! And it’s even more appropriate in modern day Las Vegas. All my time spent in Vegas was in the 60s and the early 70s. The mob was never as crooked and corrupt as the bass turds running the joint these days are. The last trip I made to Vegas was in the mid- 90s when my son was there for the Air Force. I told myself I would never come back. I never have. I paid a $7.50 cover charge twice to see Elvis in August 1969 and February 1970. When I went there in the 90s, they wanted 86 bucks to see Reba. (I told them, “never mind.”)
” ‘The tray isn’t attached to any electricity, the tray isn’t attached to anything, it’s just a plug.’ She explained that they had unplugged the tray to charge their phone...
So “they” had to UNPLUG the tray that wasn’t attached to any electricity so “they” could use the electricity the tray hadn’t been attached to, to charge a phone for FOUR days. (Hotel rooms have multiple electrical outlets per Code).
Options: 1) Too stupid to know she was contradicting herself; or, 2) Grifta boool sheeet.
They’re gambling more. They’re just doing it online w/ sports betting. No one needs Vegas or AC for that anymore.
It was better when the mob ran it. Things were free back then. They just wanted you at the tables.
Fuggedaboutit!
Cities were better when the mob ran them
They are certainly safer, if you were a ‘civilian’.
The way they have done it is problematic.
Caesars has a hotel that provides water bottles. there is a sign that is noticeable in large letters that you will be charged if you drink them. Mine were missing. You can be sure I immediately told them I didn’t want to be charged for the missing water.
They said they were out . I hung up laughing and thought they should have put the sign away until they got them back in stock. It would save a lot of phone calls
I understand what she meant. there is plug but there is nothing on the tray or about the tray that requires electricity unless you understand about the weight sensitive issue . She likely didn’t understand.
is it some sort of pressure plate? why would that plug in otherwise?
this place is a dump: duct tape on ice bucket, frayed cushions on chair, paint chipped on table and chair, stuff hanging over the table ...
Was she too stupid to use any other plug in the room? or even the bathroom to charge the phone?
WTF! Next they’ll require your credit card to use the bathroom...oh, wait...
Or maybe the minibar fridge was plugged into that outlet? The hotel does not want the next guest having warm drinks in his minibar. It could take ages for the thing to cool down again.
I could see the next customer getting really PO’d if the minibar fridge had warm drinks in it.
........ actual gambling is worse... on the tables, if you draw a royal flush, or a 4 of a kind, or similar high hand, there is no longer a set winnings amount..........
Instead if you get a winning hand, you have to play some stupid mini roulette game where you spin a digital wheel and whatever the pointer lands on, that’s your winnings.
You bet! They are already pissed about paying minibar prices!
Thank you. I knew there was more to this story than what was actually written.
You are correct and particularly Vegas. When the mob ran Vegas they sold tits and ass, gambling, cheap booze and food and show girls, that is the tits and ass part. They were customer oriented and gave them what they wanted. That is not a bad business model.
My comments are not an endorsement of the mob but and endorsement of good business practices.
Minibars can be a cash cow but they can also be a pain for all involved.
Most of the small motels I deal with have decided to just put a couple of vending machines on each floor and leave it at that.
