But in my defense, I'm old enough to remember during Clinton's presidency, it was common for Bill and Hill to say, "My administration has thoroughly investigated these allegations and have determined that I am completely innocent!"
And then the Fake News Media would come out and say, "The Clinton administration has thoroughly investigated these allegations and have determined that the Clintons are totally innocent!"

They likely said that he has “all the classic earmarks” of innocence. Plausible deniability maintained.
