Chipmaker Nvidia's CEO Jensen Huang said that the company will continue to sponsor H-1B visas and cover all associated costs following U.S. President Donald Trump's executive order last month that imposed a $100,000 fee on each new application, Business Insider reported on Tuesday.
Huang's reported message, aimed at reassuring employees, comes after panic and confusion had ensued among tech workers on H-1B visas, a large chunk of whom are from India and China.
Akin to the wider chip and tech industry, Nvidia has a significant number of employees from overseas. Huang has repeatedly asserted that about half the AI researchers in the world are Chinese.
"As one of many immigrants at Nvidia, I know that the opportunities we've found in America have profoundly shaped our lives," Huang wrote in a message to staff, cited by Business Insider.
"And the miracle of Nvidia — built by all of you, and by brilliant colleagues around the world — would not be possible without immigration," Huang added, according to the report.
Nvidia declined to comment when contacted by Reuters.

Nvidia is probably SO busy, the USA market can’t supply enough engineers.
They also have the cash to pay it.
No love left for Little Zelya?
Oh wait till the bubble burst on AI, and it is already. NVIDIA will be back to being another tight margins 90’s fossil selling overpriced to GPU to 40 year old gaming dorks.
I've applied repeatedly to NVidia.
I've had the EXACT skills called for in the job posting.
I've successfully taped out many chips, including AI chips like NVidia makes.
I've been referred by an NVidia employee.
NO MATTER: I GET A REJECTION E-MAIL IN 48 HOURS LIKE CLOCKWORK.
I'm so, so, incredibly sick of this crap.
and if there are NO H-1B visas ?
Give them an Indian name and you’ll be in.
‘”As one of many immigrants at Nvidia, I know that the opportunities we’ve found in America have profoundly shaped our lives,” Huang wrote in a message to staff, cited by Business Insider.’
American tech workers should be so fortunate.
Wow the us market can’t instantly provide service X , so therefore that will never change, and X will never be provided.
That kind of rigid thinking will get you no where.
if they are worth the $100,000 fee, go right ahead!
They will get overworked in a way that makes it easily advantageous for NVidia to pay the fee, especially when spread out over a number of years.
I've lived this situation for 25 years. Trust me, the whole thing needs to be SHUT DOWN.
Every day we put it off makes dealing with the inevitable that much harder. It's similar to the national debt.
That’s fine. If Nvidia thinks their H1bs are worth it, then late them pay the fee and employ them.
They have the cash to build trade schools and recruit American students. Mayo Hospital here in Jacksonville has an in house school for techs. Some type educational investment “fee” should be a preq for H-1B approval.
Would be nice if they sold a modern video card that didn’t cost me 800 bucks..
The RTX 50 trash fire series designed by H-1Bs ?
Go get a hobby.
100k was too low. Should be 250k and apply to renewals too.
Another zeeper who’s too dumb to recognize a troll.
You’re the troll in my opinion, like 10 spammy replies to threads.
